Fujifilm Finepix J20 flash?

I dont really like my new Fujifilm Finepix J20 digital camera because when i dont put the flash on then the picture turns out really yellowish.

i brighten the "LCD" and its even more yellow.

when i put the flash on, then the picture is VERY VERY bright.
and you can see every detail on my face with the flash on.

is there a quick fix other then returning it, because i cant now...
 
What from you write there's nothing wrong with your camera accept the operator.

Understand that your camera is flashing because it needs that light to create a good image. If you're taking photos of yourself at arms length the camera is too close to you and of course the result is going to be too bright.

Get used to automatic cameras - they are designed to do most everything for you... and from what you describe all's well.
