i know there are 3 positions on the regulator reserve-up, on-down, and the 3rd is pri-to the right. according to my book this is prime and the only actual fuel shut-off is on the tanks pepcock and is only accessed with a screw driver when taking the tank off. my question i guess would be on the regulator does the fuel shut off when engine not running or does it keep gravity draining like on older bikes? and am i losing fuel by leaving the regulator in the on position when not riding it and without shuting off the pepcock on the tank, any help would be great

The float bowls in the carbs maintain a constant fuel level. So they will only allow more fuel in as the engine uses it, regardless of the type of petcock/regulator you have. Unless the float bowl valves are leaking, no gas will flow when the motor is not running.
