Fuel Economy

I have a 1098S with a full termi system. Anyhoo, the fuel light comes on (talking commuting here) after about only 120kms and I stop to fill up after about 150kms and the bike only takes about 10 litres. I could ignore the light and and probably safely fill after 200kms, but I'm paranoid about running out of fuel. To sum up, the fuel light kinda freaks me out. Am I alone here or do other ppl have the light come on at about this point?

I think you tend to get used to it after a while. I have the same bike. The fuel light comes on at about 85 miles and I can go another 40 safely, but it's a drag with that light staring at me.

Pjk

On my 848, I usually get 160km before the light comes on and an additional 50km or so before I run out of fuel. I've actually run out of fuel 2 times on my 848. I shift early, but go fast and keep the RPM's LOW. Thats how you save on mileage.

I also fill up to 14l (3.8g) usually.

Wow... I notice the light comes on around 2 gallons in on my 848. I am freaking out. I get roughly 80 miles before the light, but that range sucks.

yeah the gas mileage sucks.

Check out the 1198 average mpg

has the smallest gas tank of all the bikes compared as well.

Hey guys i just bought my first Ducati 2009 1198 and i also have gas light coming on around 80 miles, when i fill up at the pump i see 2.6 gallons is all it takes, Ducati clams the tank is 4.1 gallon with 1.0 res.......

I guess that what you get when you have all that that horsepower...........

Dropping off my new 1098 for its first service tomorrow. My first tank the light went on at 85 miles. Credit that to a new, tight engine. After that the light is regularly coming on right at 100-106 miles, and taking exactly 2.5 gal to fill. That makes it a consistent 40 mpg. I do wish the light would wait until it hits 3.1 for the mythical 1 gal reserve, but at least I know when the light dings I've got another 60 miles in the tank...the reserve mileage counter on the trip meter is handy, too...

I think I'm going to see how well my 1198 is doing with gas today. It seems you're right about the 2.5 gallons. Last week I went 90 miles, reserve light goes on, then 2 miles later went off again for a few miles, then back on again starting over on the reserve mileage number.

I'm thinking I get about 120 to a tank, so I'd like to know where this reserve is coming on at for sure.

I ran out of gas completely with 103 miles on the trip and it only took 3.2 gallons. I was extremely close another time with about 110 miles on the trip and it took 3.3 There is no way that tank including reserve is 4.1 gallons.
