GOD DAMN IT!

I'm getting off the ship that I work on this Wedneday in Dover, England. I'm spending a week in London, taking a bus from Dover up to London Heathrow Airport. I'm supposed to take the Tube (Underground, Subway, whatever) from the airport to my friend's place in central London (with whom I'm staying).

THE ONE DAY THAT I REALLY NEED TO RIDE THE TUBE, THERE'S A 24 HOUR FUCKING TUBE STRIKE, HOW GAY IS THAT?!?!

Wouldn't be so bad if it was like a long, drawn out strike with no end in sight. No no no, it starts on Tuesday at 1830 and goes till Wednesday 1830. Gay.

I know I can take a bus, but it's so much more convenient to take the Tube.

Grr. Typical luck.
:mfinger:

Englands a weird country. We got overground subways in Canada (at least in BC). They're AWESOME and you get a beautiful view. So forget about England, you live in good ol' Canada  be happy.

Canada sounds cool, maybe I'll visit one day and ride the skytrain
especially if america decides to reinstate the draft
thought I hear they'll come for u and drag u back or something, dam violence and war

seije - exactly correct. in 2003 congress signed a bill that makes it criminal to leave to another country if YOU CANNOT PROVE YOU DID IT FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN TO ESCAPE A DRAFT. under extradition treaty laws, they can get you back and jail you.

s'why i have my acceptance to UT's grad school and i always keep it handy; you never know when you need a legitimate reason for leaving.

the worst part is that student deferments are no longer valid. you will be allowed to finish up the quarter or semester you have already paid for, then it's time to ship off and die with that education on hold.

Thanks for that little history tidbit, now let's get off subjects like that and get back to reality(at least reality on this site).

A 24 Hour strike? LOL.. You lucky shit.

In California when BART goes on strike its until the workers get what they want which means higher fares.

I have seen bart down for 3 months which meant clogged freeways.

I love the UK. You guys really showed me a good time over there when I went for buisness. The local pubs, and the country side was as much fun as London.

One thing though. If you ever come to New York and ask "Where do I go to ride the tube?" people will take a few steps back. LOL :)
