Not sure about the mushroom dude. I did happen to laugh when I read that and I can probably understand why the fuck it isn't funny.. But come on.. A mushroom? Have you tried to pick it with a pair of tongs or something?
About the insects and shit, all I can suggest is get a pest inspector to come into your house and spray the shit out of it when you get a bit more dosh in your pocket.
Oh and maybe get some anti-histamines just incase you have some sort of allergic reaction to something..
