Even if it didn't go through the paint, and You're gonna get it painted, I'd touch-up it to keep it from going farther South... it'll look wierd, but if you use a Q-tip, you should be able to lay the paint right in there. And if you don't do that, make sure to get a coat of wax on the scratch.

You could always do a home job with some friends: a couple of cans of spraypaint, some cardboard to cover the glass, go to town, and you have the funkiest car in town (unless you have a girlfriend, or job, or a life...) I'll shut up now.

brainwash .. I'm sending it into a body shop monday, they'll seal it up, thanks for the tip though.

Cliche... well, I don't know about you, but I kind of like the whole idea of not having a $12,500 car that looks like shit... but maybe that's just me...

you need to find out who they are. then you have 2 options: 1- you hire a mexican bounty hunter, never show this mexican your face or give him your name. 2- do the dirty work your self, it would be by far more pleasing. infact you could use this as a first step to becomeing an evil geieus. i sugest you begin manufacturing a gigantic blener/amazingly slow lowering device. then hire the mexican anyway so you can have him build it for you. good luck.

Who's talking about material. Labor is what gets ya. At least in NY. we'll pay $250 to get a door repainted. It's a standard labor rate.

AHHHH .. went to a body shop today to get an actual quote ..... $635 .. in other words: fuck that option..

They suggested some colored wax from a pepboys-like place, and my thought was that, because it is a black car, it shouldn't be too difficult to match the color and do it ... but I've never had to do something like this .. anybody have an idea how to or if it will look decent after?

I would try it. You always have the professional body shop job to fall back on. Even if you just do it to keep it from rusting and hold you over till you get it to the shop.
I would get several quotes from body shops. Pick one of the middle of the road prices. The idea being; the high price guy is ripping you off. The low price guy is low balling, and cutting corners. The guy in the middle is just trying to earn a living.
