Fucking Keyers

Questioned Mind

To avoid reading my long schpiel: the short of it is that my car got keyed.

So .. sophomores at my school aren't supposed to drive because we have a small parking lot etc etc and the juniors and seniors get all pissy cause they come to school late and can't find spots...

So they started this pack of upperclassmen that go out and chalk/soap soph cars, but they happened to want to key mine. The thing is, I switch off giving and receiving rides with two jrs .. so we put one car in the lot instead of three.

I do not understand why a person keys another person's car. There just is NO circumstance that calls for that. They can report our cars to the dean's office and get us towed .. that's fine, tow it away .. but don't key another person's car... I just think it's fucked up to not take the rap for doing damage to a person's car.

It's just two completely different things to get a car towed and to damage it... keying a car isn't going to stop a soph from driving, but if we thought the car would get towed again, we'd stop driving and find another ride. You can TP, chalk, soap, use glass paint, or any other way to deface a car, but you just don't put permanent damage onto a car like that.

To any of you that have keyed cars, I have one thing for you::gun::mfinger::gun:. I only hope karma comes back to whoever did this shit, I don't piss people off, and I don't hate anyone, so why do people have to hate me?

Sorry this is so long .. but I just shelled out my entire savings ($12,500) for this car ... and my baby got keyed

Dude... that sucks. Doesn't your school have security cameras in the parking lot or something? (Mine did... and my school was possibly the shittiest in the state.) If they do, I'd look into getting the tapes from the day it happened, and taking their punk asses to court.

our school didn't even have security cameras inside the building... they had fake ones outside to discourage criminal activity, but they didn't do anything.

Nothing I can say will ease your pain, but it may comfort you to know that I feel the same contempt for such assholes as you do. I'm sure most people here would offer to hold the guys arms back while you wail on his rib cage. Lemme know man. I'll bring my ax handle.

They sell substances at most autoparts stores (like autozone maybe?) that you can rub into your car and take the scratches away. I'm not sure how well it works, because ive never had to use it.

Rubbing compound blows if they are deep scratches....

All's it's used for is minor scratches, and just wears away your clear-coat. You'd be better off turning it in to insurance.

Thanks for your sentiments and advice everybody. My school does have exterior cameras, but they change the direction they face each week and my car happened to be parked between twos' visions. In other words, no chance of catching whoever did it. But there's really no point crying about it, it's done, and it's not gonna disappear on its own. So now I just have to deal with it.

Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have a body shop either:
A: repaint both doors
B: buff/use touchup paint
or
C: repair in some other way (please specify)

My dad has an "in" at the body shop we use, and i got a Dent in my rear quarter panel repaired and painted for $50.

My frontend after hitting a deer was a little more pricey, he had to pull dents, fill, sand, prime and repaint the front quarter panel and it costed around $200 to $250. But this is at a little po-dunk shop in a small town.

I had the body of an old car i used to drive painted (the hood, the 4 doors, the trunk, and the top, no jams or anything) and it ran me about $300 if i can rememebr correctly (it was about 3 years ago).

The best bet probably would be to go to the bodyshop and have them match the paint, and give you a pint, and use a q-tip to touch up the scratches.

it should run you about $250 per door/panel to repaint. They have to paint the area and blend it to the surrounding panels/doors. unless you just have the shop touch it up. But if you paid 12,500 for the car I'm sure you don't wand some obvious touchup marks on it.

Again man, I'm sorry this happened to you. I just forked over $1700 for body work on Kelly's 2001 Stratus.

Keying, breaking stuff, or just doing any damage to anyone's car is just fucked up.

Last year, a friend of mine was gone for the weekend and left his car in the back faculty parking lot on a friday night after a big football game with our rivals. Me and three friends got a few cartons of eggs and a few rolls of toilet paper and threw it all on his car. Just for a joke, no damage at all. Just wash it off and there's nothing left of it.

Well we heard that when he came back to get his car on sunday, it had been egged, TPed, KEYED, and slices of ham were placed all over it. I have no clue if it's true, but someone says that ham can eat away at the car's paint? I don't know. Well that's just fucked up, and I talked to my friends and to see if they did that and they were all surprised to hear it. We think that maybe students from the rival school came by and did that (since we beat their asses). What we did still isn't cool, but it's not damaging. What those people did is fucked up beyond belief.

Well the school payed for him to get a new paint job, but he ended up totalling the car two weeks later. He still doesn't know who defaced his car.. *snickers*

Again, thanks. I suppose the next $500 I get will be going towards this car as well, but I'm definitely not messin with it until the summer in case some asshat does it again before school's out.. but for now I suppose I'll pay them to buff out part of it that didn't get all the way through the paint and just leave it at that for now

... in case anybody wanted em, I attached a couple pictures
