Fucking Decisions

OK I know this is kinda lame but it's annoying the absolute shit out of me at the moment.
There are three main things I want to do with my life. (I would happily settle with any one of these)
Be an english/history/music teacher.
Be in an actually good band.
or
Race/work on cars.

Now one of those brings in no cash and the others bring in hardly any and I'm cool with that, but my folks are on my back to get a job and make money, by the way I have a job at Domino's fucking Pizza.

So I'm being a wingy shit and not wanting to be going to school full time (oh yeah I'm in year eleven and start my HSC next term) and working because I wont have time to do stuff or go good and still not go nuts from stress.

I know plenty of other people are managing but I'm not other people.

Anyhow, here is the decision. Do I;
Leave school get a real job make money and abandon the whole 'being a teacher' thing.
or
Stay at school, not have a job and not earn money?

It's annoying me and I should decide soon so I don't waste anymore time of mine and anyone elses, even though I just made you waste time to read this.

Cheers,

You're gonna do what you're gonna do. Just make the decision you feel works for you, and that you can live with. You can mix and match those options all over the place. You could go to school and work part time. You could work a job and do the band thing and see if it goes somewhere. You could learn to fix cars, which is good money, but race on weekends. You could try to get grants and loans and go to school full-time. It's not like you have to chose one thing RIGHT NOW and that's all you'll ever do.

You could try one for a couple years, then try another. It's your life hun, live it. Whatever you do don't be all "I should have done X!!!" and beat yourself up for years and years about it later. The grass always looks greener on the other side, if you get my drift. Whatever you choose will work out, don't stress too much about it.

Are you talking about not going to finish highschool or college? If highschool you better tough it out for the next or so. If its college then its really a toss up. Because if you choose to work on cars then having a college degree could have you making at least 1.75x more than your non college graduate conter parts.

Your best bet is to stay in school. And to that end you kind of forgot an option:

Stay in school and cut back your work hours. You make a little money and have a little free time.

You don't know what you want to be just yet but an education to begin with goes a LONG damn way.

I've been here. Nothing anyone says is really going to make THAT much of a difference. For me, I just kind of woke up one day and said, "Enough of this...I'm going to do what I want." Generally, everything turns out allright in the end.

It's really hard to get a job as a teacher making any kind of decent money nowadays, (3 people in my family are in the teaching business, 2 college professors and one 4th grade teacher).

That being said, all of the roads you have chosen are difficult ones, so it really comes down to, what are you absolutely passionate about? Is there something good, that pops in your head as soon as you wake up in the morning, that's there again when you go to bed at night?

Or you could do it the cheesy but efficient way and make a + / - List.

I'm kidding, unless that's the route you really want to take. If you do want to join the military, look into it. Ask a few people. It is a good way to help you get on your feet and get an education, if it's for you. I'll be the first to say it's not for everybody.

I say you should persue your career as an educator. Think about how great it would be to have a teacher who fixes hot rods and plays in a kick-ass band... you'd relate to students really well, and make a very positive impact on them. "Hey, Mister Bobbyray is cool, and he's a history teacher. History kicks ass the way he teaches it. I'm gonna soak up all his lessons".

You have a real chance here to do something, dude. You don't want to spend the rest of your life thinking back on shit you should have done.

People don't become teachers for the money. If they were after money - they would have picked another occupation.

That said, stay in school! Cut back on work hours but stay in school! And really, being a teacher is guaranteed income. There is always a need for teachers!
