OMFG! I sold a laptop yesterday to some trailertrash kid, and then he calls up harrassing my mother! SO THEN my mother calls the clinic I am at, right after I get out of my appointment and then I get bitched at on loudspeaker in front of the whole clinic! Then I get home, I call the kid because he said the laptop was broken and that I had played him for a fool. It turns out that he fuckin' opened it up, bent the RAM in half, stuck it back in, scratched the motherboard up, put it back together, and in attempt of keeping me from knowing he did this he stripped the screws. He even fried the friggin' hard drive!!! So I went to his mother's friends' place and his mother bitched at me about how it is worthless, at the time I didn't know what her son had done, so I appologized to her because I thought I had forgot to fix something so I refunded them and took the laptop home. That's when I got really pissed, I discovered the screws were fucked up, so I used some special tools to open it and I just wish I could have punched the kid in the face! How can you do this shit to such a sexy laptop?! And all this just for kicks?! WTF!? Should I bring this kid to court or should I just feel sorry for the trailer trash for being so immensly stupid... I really hate stupid people...

you could take the kid to small claims court. but it will be hard to proove when it's one word against another. He said she said is always difficult unless you have pictures before being sold and after the kid returned it.
Sounds liek the kid was scamming you. not sure why though considering all he'd be doing was getting the money he paid back. he wouldn't be making any money off of it. No profit in that switch, but if the kid's stupid enough, he might think he got away with some dough.
Next time take a photo of the object with the new owner while it's on (if it's a laptop, it would be good to see that it is on which would show it's working). Tell them you've been screwed in the past and are just covering your tracks if they are hesitant to be in the photo. Make sure the time stamp is on the photo too for records. That way if the buyer claims something is wrong you have pictures to proove it was in good condition when sold.

dont sue,i dont think there is really any way to prove that he did it...but you can find him when he is alone, then beat the ever loving shit out of him and take any money he has on him ^^ then spread nasty rumers about him and a goat or what have you....but then you would just be sinking down to his levle....so...maybe thats not good....

atleast you got the laptop back, i gave mine to a mate so he could replace the motherboard, he got caught for breaking and entering my mates house and when i spoke to the police he told them i hadn't given him the money to fix it and i hadn't tried to contact him so he'd sold it. ABSOLOUTE WANKER!!!

Well ever catch him going out there with a newspaper or something you could always just catch a photo and blackmail him ;p Hows he to prove you have the photo ;p Fuck him over is my suggestion. Like Bitch said, if there's any way to prove the condition of the laptop before and after sale, take the dipweed to small claims court. One shining spot would be the shape of the screws when you got it back. Who would have bought it in that condition? And asking how the customer knew it was broken?
