Fuckin ankles!!

I hate my goddamned ankles!! They first got fucked up when i was playing football one lunch about a year ago. This big senior AJ tackled me and thought it would be "fun" to jump on my right ankle when he got up:thumbsdn:. Thus all ligaments and tendons on it are officailly(sp) FUCKED up. I was on crutches for over a month, missing the first half of the volleyball season. It has since "healed," and now has a permanent twist to the right. I roll my ankle at least 5 times a week. This is with my brace. More recently, a little over a month ago, whilst playing volleyball I FUCKED up my left ankle. There was a freeball, for those of you who dont follow volleball bear with me, and so i backed off to make my approach. Started my approach, I'm a middle so I run 1's. Kevin, our setter sets a four, and I realize that without the ball to crush, I'm going to net. So, I shift my weight and start my turn-around in mid-air. That's when the yells of "Ball on! Ball on!" start up. I scan the floor, see the ball, and move my foot, right foot, so that I don't land on the ball. My left foot hits the ball anyway, and I end up dislocating my ankle, thus severing tendons AND ligaments. Don't you all just love pain? If so i suggest this as the best thing for you. Long story shorter, I'm done with volleyball for at least a month, I am now back in, and whats more my left ankle are now way more succeptable(sp) to rolls. I roll it at least once a day, with braces. So now I have TWO bad ankles both with permanent turns. yay *sarcasm*. Now I'm going to have to have surgeory on my ankles to fix the twist. The surgeories have a 40% success rate. FUCK!! If they don't work I am done with sports. And without sports no college, because we can not afford it at all without scholarships. Meaning, unless I can either avoid surgeory, or they actually work, I'm done with sports and thus college. DAMN! ...Stupid AJ, stupid varsity letting the ball roll on...

I know how ankles can be a pain. Mine have been screwed up for over a year. It's a long story, and it involves me being in the military. Maybe one day I'll make a thread about it, but for now, nah.

As far as the college deal goes, there's so many other things that you could get scholarships from, not to mention the federal aid that you could receive as well. Hopefully you can have the surgeries and they are successful, but look at other options as well. If you're doing well in school, then academically your ACT score (if you've taken it) can land you a bit of money. It did for me, anyway.

Look at all your options other than sports.

I generally do pretty well in school. Execpt recently IDK what happened but I now have a "D" in math... Well I'm going to try and just avoid the surgeories.

Well, the D can be easily pulled up. Do you know what your GPA is as of right now? Have you taken the ACT?

The reason why I'm saying is that you can look at other options besides sports is simply because when I was trying to figure out where I wanted to go for college, I had several opportunities presented to me because of my grades first and foremost. Then, I also had two full scholarships for which I accepted half of each - one for choir and one for band.

Yeah, I was a band geek, even in college.

Also, there are also several writing competitions for scholarships as well. Those are able to be looked into, and there are others that involve community service. Hell, there are even scholarships out there for people who are left-handed. It just depends on what you can find.

you at least have the option of surgery when the doctors looked at my ankle they called in a bunch of people and said wtf and then went away and siad you'll be fine....8 years after i still have to wear a brace and i've sparined my ankle at least once a year....it fucking sicks when doctors dont know what you did to yourself.

Danni no I haven't taken the ACT nor the SATs yet I'm currently a sophomore. But choir=no. I have a horrible singing voice. As for band we don't have any money to pay for it, it's $500. I know gay but whatever we can't afford it so yeah, and you can't really get sponsors for band like you can for sports... The D well it would be easy to pull up if I had any idea WTF I did wrong...stupid A2 trig. Sadly I am right-handed:( lol. Even though I am really doing well in english, I do horribly at writing compitions, IDK why. My GPA is currently...2.83 I think? I live about an hour away from the school I go to so community service won't work:(
Anywayz I'm pretty much calm now, I just needed to yell/rant for a little bit. Thanks for caring*insert hugging smily here*

Exactly... Assuming that sports is your only chance at getting into college is just small minded and unrealistic these days. Just take all the effort you put into sports and use it to apply to various organizations for grants and financial aid.

Considering that you are a sophomore, you have plenty of time to pull that GPA up. If you get it around 3.0, or at least a 2.9, you will get accepted into pretty much any college.

TAKE YOUR ACT NEXT YEAR. I know you're only required to take it once, but go ahead and hit up a practice round with it. Get used to taking the thing. If you aren't satisfied with your initial score, you can retake it.

As far as Trig goes, if you are having trouble, don't be afraid to ask a teacher for help. That's what educators are there for... to help you. I can't recall how many times I didn't ask a question that would have benefited me as far as learning goes just because I was scared to/scared of what the teacher would think/etc.

Also, if you think you are bad at something, find ways to improve it. There are several different online programs that are designed to help you. You said you suck at writing competitions, so if you're having trouble writing, find resources to use to your advantage. Here's one if you don't know where to start:

Welcome to the OWL at Purdue - The OWL at Purdue

Also, I wasn't suggesting you should go out and join choir or band. I was just using that as an example of how I got offered scholarships for different organizations, as well as for my grades.

Yeah I know. I'm just really stressed right now, because my parents are riding me pretty hard right now. Yes I have talked to them about the amount of stress they're inflicting on me.
About the Trig well I actually understand it...for right now lol.
If we had money I actually would join band as I've been playing trumpet, baritone/euphonium, and tuba for 6 years.

Just because you don't have the money to join band in high school does not mean that you couldn't join it in college. If you have a skill at an instrument, then try out.

You don't have to have previous band experience. They prefer it, but you don't have to have it.

I had a similar incident in High School. My football team had 17 players. SEVENTEEN. We were playing against teams that had 50+ people, and naturally, we had a hard time, which was part of the reason why no one wanted to play. But we just didnt have that many people at our school that could.

Anyway, we had 8 linemen. I was playing tackle for this particular scrimmage session, and we had 5 on one side, and 3o n the other. One of the guys who was uncovered thought it would be hilarious to just t-bone me as I'm guarding the guy in front of me. We all rotated around, and whoever didnt have anyone to cover was supposed to just chill out for those plays.

Well, he and his buddy threw me halfway across the field and then the guy on the other side of me, the fattest mofo on the team, fell on my knee as I was about to get back up.

I felt it grind, then I felt it pop, and I knew something was wrong.

I hobbled up, and I couldn't straighten out my knee, or bend it too far, but it didn't hurt.

A couple of hours later I howling in agony.

Turns out I tore my meniscus and partially tore my ACL. They didnt do an ACL recosntruction since they didnt even find out about it until they went in to do surgery on my meniscus. After the meniscus surgery Iw as supposed to be walking around within a couple of days. I came to and they told me that I had partially torn my ACL, and they could reconstruct it, but it would be weaker than it was in its current state. The natural leftover connections I still had would, he said, become stronger to compensate, but because of that, I had to stay on crutches another 6 weeks, right as my Junior year in HS started.

I was out for the season. I technically could have played the last two games, but I wasnt able to practice or play any of the games actually. I got injured the week before the regular season started.

Fortunately, that knee never bothers me, so I'm lucky. IT makes some weird nosies when I do squats, but it feels stable and doesnt ever hurt, so I'm fairly lucky.

But that was the end of my football career, and I'm a fairly big dude, there's a chance I could have gotten some sort of scholarship at some smaller college, though I wouldn't have bet money on it. Possible, though. Anyway it took me years to feel comfortable with really stressing it again. But I do weighted squats all the time these days and it feels as strong as ever, but sometimes I do worry that someday I'm gonna be squatting some serious weight, and the fucker is just gonna snap.

And all because my teammate played what was essentially a practical joke on me.
