I (whiffa) have been unemployed in a huge college town for 3-4 months now, I apply for shitty jobs every day and follow through on them every day. I'm a college undergrad but have cust. service experience and STILL can't find a job
 
I'm going for nursing but I want to get my doctorates. I will work while I am going to grad school but won't be working very much... it's a clusterfuck. Gainesville is a clusterfuck.

edit: My college education is paid for, even grad school. I just have to work to pay rent and food and such
 
ummm they just bum around. the one hits the gym all the time and is out skiing in winter and just taking mini road trips in the summer

yeah that nice gap for the resume must be awesome

i couldnt live on unemployment. i make too much now
 
I was out of work in 01 for around 4 months. It was fun playing video games and doing nothing for maybe a couple weeks, then I started going stir crazy. Went to work at a friend's speed shop until I found something in IT again.
 
i couldn't do unemployment either, it sucked. skiing in the winter and mini road trips sound cool though...but thats still a small amount of time in the grand scheme of things
 
At least when I was on it, unemployment gave me fuck-all for money. I think it varies by state, but my unemployment compensation couldn't cover rent + food + utilities.

This amount of money is chump change compared to what we're spending to blow up durkas in the sand. I'd rather it go to poor people so they don't rob me.
 
i have a cousin who is almost 27 years old, graduated high school at 18 and worked as a dishwasher at a restaurant for about 6 months. thats it hes worked with his dad painting off and on here and there but thats the only job experience he has on his resume
 
This. I think the max in nys is $400/week. Enough to get by, but not really enough to live on long term, unless you are content to do absolutely nothing.
 
I've had a bunch of guys over the years bugging me to hire them for cash. I always tell them to beat it
 
Seriously, if you can't find a job after 2 years, just die in a fire. I see illegals at the home depot fighting with one another to do backbreaking work with a local contractor for probably $30/day. Yet, some entitled SOB is too proud to flip burgers or work the cashier line because it's beneath him and his GED.
