every goddamn time a new console comes out, its a clusterfuck of geek faggots waiting in lines for 2 months to get ahold of one.

why the hell cant Sony or Nintendo just fucking wait until they have 3-4 million goddamn consoles made before they launch

/rant

cliffs: fuck you faggots waiting overnight for shit

nintendo did pretty well with their launch, but sony screwed the pooch with only have 125k systems or so for theirs (including the ones that are for demos in stores). they would have been much much smarter to wait until next year, when they'd have enough consoles made, there would be games made for it worth playing, and they would have sold 1 million consoles by christmas. however if they did that then blu-ray would have already been raped by hd-dvd and people might shy away from it more because of that.

yeah, i understand your frustration. today i searched 9 places

did happen to find an assload of classic contollers at one toys r us, but nothing else anywhere

did the gamecube have lines and sell out? i really don't remember

If there were enough for everybody, there would be no DEMAND. No BUZZ. No PUBLICITY. It would just be another product being released to the market.

Of course, Sony took this strategy a little too far I'd say

gaming systems today are much more complex than they were years ago.. manufacturers like sony need parts from many other companies to produce the final product. I think it's a problem all around.

sony's ps3 is a weird exception

since it appeals to the a/v crowd as well, mfgs. are always rushing to get their first generation product out to establish their brand and the format

there are not many blu-ray players out right now, and sony wants to capitalize on that

I don't agree. Nintendo has said they are shipping 250,000 a week for 6 weeks straight. Do you have any idea how fucking hard that is? We are talking about materials, production, distribution, support, etc. To be able to ship almost 2 million units of something this technical in 6 weeks is fucking INSANE.

What are they going to do? Stock pile all the systems before they release? Sure, they could do that, and when they release the system everyone would be able to buy one... But, then you wouldn't have seen the PS3 for another year.

The stupid systems have to manufactured, and no company is just going to hold on to their product just to release enough for everyone that wants one.
