Firstly, I'll try not to be too long-winded about this:
My husband recently developed what I can only describe as a mild form of frostbite (apparently it's called frostnip) - in the tips of his fingers. This happened after he got up one morning for work, found that his car was covered in thick snow from an overnight storm, and proceeded to scrape it - and the ice underneath from the car, without wearing any gloves. He remembers sitting in the car afterwards and feeling the most incredible pain in his fingers....basically due to the fact that they were freezing cold! Anyway, to cut a long story short, about a week later he noticed a discolouring in his finger tips - and quite often they would also turn white - meaning there was no circulation getting through to the finger tips. He went to the hospital at this time and after much debate it was decided that he was suffering from 'frostnip'. No treatment - it would heal itself. WRONG! It is now much worse in terms of pain - to the extent that at night (obviously when his blood circulation slows down) he wakes up with such severe pain that he went back to his local GP to get some strong painkillers (and my husband NEVER takes painkillers EVER). He was also given medication to help thin his blood. Basically my question is this: has anyone experienced this kind of thing themselves -or know of anyone who has? A couple of his finger tips are now SO sensitive that if he knocks them - even gently - against something he practically jumps up in the air with the pain of it (probably something to do with his nerve endings). Any advice / help would be most welcome!
