Front and Rear Bike derailleur Question?

I am tryinn to start to learn a little more about bikes and was wondering if someone could explain briefly what all of the adjustments are on the front and rear derailleurs and what they do. You dont have to explain them in detail, unless you want to, which would be most appreciated. I tried reading articles online but they seem to condradict eachother, so i will be most appreciative if you help me, thanks.
