From this short poem I wrote does it give me any potential to become a good poet?

A poem that I have written called: The Compass And The Night Skies

Bless the stars that guided me, as I used the North star to help find you as I lost you to the night skies. I have traveled to the East just to see your smile light up the dawn, and have sailed home to the West to get lost in your eyes again. Our love, and affection always raised the temperature like the summer nights in the South. My heart is then replaced with a compass, the instrument that has been used time and time again to find one's misguided half. The four directions in my compass has always pointed straight to you

Yeah thats really good - I like how you relate the heart to a compass, yearning for someone you love. Good job, and keep it up!

By the way, please do not listen to the idiot suggestions here, that say your poem isn't good. I think it is really good - dead serious. Of course, you have the potential to become better. Stick to it, you might be famous one day.

It would have been nicer and easier to analyze if you put it in line form like this:

I wrote a line of the poem
I feel like I want to go home
YOUR MOM

Ok. Now I think it's a really random question if it gives you potential to become a good poet.

If you have to ask others you've already failed.

Any good poet FEELS what they are writing, and the act of writing poetry is done not for approval of their peers, but for the act of writing itself.
