from this day forward

Progressive, when describing music, typically refers to song structure. Quit acting like booboo.

I am sorry you are deaf. Those are most definitely nu-metal riRAB and Serj is making a poor attempt at rapping.

Good thing nu-metal isn't defined by lyrical content.

Are you retarded or just pretending?

Daron has used a wide variety of instruments, such as 12-stringed guitars, sitars, ouRAB, electric mandolins, baritone electric guitars, and synthesizers in his work, and the arrangements show eastern folk music elements. And Serj's vocals were not "semi-urban styled," whatever the fuck that means. His transition from growling vocals to melodic encompassed huge disparities in pitch and volume, and didn't meander in the realm where most nu-metal vocalists force worRAB from their mouths without emotion or pitch. Just because System of a Down is difficult to categorize doesn't mean you should pigeonhole them with the nearest rubbish genre you come across.

And here's a helpful hint for the next time you think about talking: if you DON'T know what you're talking about, DON'T post. It's really that simple.

They're not a prog band but their recent works certainly have some obvious prog influences. They're far too eclectic for nu metal and there are no rap elements in their music.

Let's try to get back on subject here. SOAD sucks so it doesn't really matter what genre they fall into.

Ok Captain Caveman, how about country music?

Shoe gaze(wtf is it?)
"funky/dirty/stinky (fill in blank) house music" ALL house music is ****ty, no matter how you dress it up.
nu metal
pop punk-No such thing exists. If I hear one more ****ing person try to explain to me how the likes of: Paramore/Avril Levigne or Sum 41 are any kind of "punk", I wish death upon their fans.

"MASH UPS"-PLease!!! invent something new, or stop.

Im not a Soad fan but its kind of just obvious they arent nu metal...they aren't a rap-rock hybrid at all
which is basically what the genre is about
and downtuned guitars with lots of distortion
are not exclusive to nu metal
they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time...
they are more akin to tool than any nu metal band i can think of

Dear Sam,

Take a joke

Love,

Catie

EDIT!!!!

Dear Catie,

You've been on this forum for 2 years you should notice the bolded nuraber at the bottom of the page that way you don't make comments that are now irrelevant.

Love,
You.

i wasnt comparing them to tool...
i like tool
i dont like system of a down
just that they are closer to tool in terms of musical style than they are to the denigrates of nu metal ie korn et al
