from September, 2009 thru March, 2010. Is it fair to say it is in six months...

...period or more than six months pe? from September, 2009 thru March, 2010. will you say it is six months or seven months?

Can we say from september to october is one month and from october to november is the second month and from november to december is third month and so on........,

or will you just say september is the first month, october is the second month and november is the thrid month and so on....?

please let me know...
why do you say a person who says six months is wrong and why do you say a person who say seven months is wrong?
