Ok I'm coming from a N80 moved to N73..

Yeah so I enjoyed the WiFi on the N80! So got over it and moved on to the N73 which has very nice camera but no WiFi..

Do you think upgrading to a N93 make sense?

I mean I compared both phones the N73 and the N93 they almost have the same features. Just the N93 having WLAN capabilities like the N80.

N93 Good: same as the N73. BAD: Too Big.

N73: Good: size and capabilites. BAD: No WLAN

Do you guys think this is a good upgrade? I mean I have to sell my N73 plus Cash to get the N93..

WoW.. It looks like N73 is a winner..

There is no point of upgrading to N93 coming from a N73..

I need more opinion!!

Come on guys!!

I've never used the N93, but my N73 rocks. It's a great phone, plus its a pretty damn good camera, and has good software coming out all the time. The PIM is decent (probably the only thing about the phone I don't like as much as WM5 phones). Audio quality is great, people complain about the keypad but it kills the T-Mobile SDA I came from (joystick is way better too). People aslo complain about the build quality, but I think overall its very good, except the backplate is not fitted tightly so it creaks a bit. The lens cover seems a bit flimsy at first becuase it has a bit of side-to-side give, but it has been holding up very well.

I had the N80 and honestly didn't find WiFi all that useful. I mean, I don't have it at work (security issues is what I was told), didn't really find it all that often out and about, and at home I have a laptop. So I found myself only using it as a novelty at home, really. Plus, as far as I could figure out, it's only useful for internet. I never once got it to work with uPnP to share files, I couldn't browse my PC's files from the phone, nor could I stream to the phone from the PC. Without those functions, to me it's kinda useless. I'll stick with Orb and EDGE, personally.

Yeah I think so too.. I didn't find my N80 WLAN useful.. It was too slow!! like loading websites and stuff. I will just rely on my laptop for WLAN! To me I think WLAN would be usefull on the N80 or N93 if they have the yahoo messenger on it and AOL IM.. The real one! Not Agile or IM.. The one that's registered from them and meant to use for S60 3rd Edition!

N93 has 3D capabilities and TV-out. It even records videos in DVD-like quality. Apart from that, it's almost the same as the N73 if you don't consider the minor improvement of still images in the N73 over the N93. And oh yes, N93 is BIG.

What do you mean by 3D capabilities?

TV-Out means.. After you record form its camera, you can play it on your TV? Am I correct? and How is the quality on your TV? Would it replace my camcorder if I get this phone?

Also yeah I know about that its almost the same as the N73. They both have 3PM camera Carl Zeiss lens. What improve? the N93 or the N73 in what way? Can you explain?

Yeah its a little bit bigger.. I was never a fan of the 6260 and the N90..

The N93 has a dedicated 3D-chip, the TI omap2420 I think it's called, you can find more info on it on symbian-freak.com. The phone also uses the chip for encoding mpeg4 while recording, and for the TV-out.

However, the 3D-chip is totally useless for gaming, because the N93 does not allow you to properly use more then one button at the same time... so you can use it for snakes, sre, pacman and arkanoid (if you don't shoot while you move), all other games are unplayable.

I suspect this is a firmware bug, but I'm not sure. I contacted Nokia about this a couple of times, but they don't give me a satisfactory answer.

Anyway, you don't need to get the N93 for games =/

N93 has optical zoom and the video recording capabilities are better. Also I believe the N93 has some sort of 3D graphics processor, however I'm not too sure how useful it is at the time. And yes TV out is pretty cool. However, although both cameras have the same Zeiss lens, they most likely have a different CCD as I have heard for still shots the N93 is a bit more noisy. I can say from experiance though that the N73 has a blueish haze over night shots, however its still far better than every other camera phone I have used, which basically couldn't take pics except outdoors in the middle of a sunny day.

The n93 isnt that big. i carry it everywhere on a daily basis and it doesnt bother me. i had an n80 also and went with the n93 over the n73 for a couple of reasons. first of all and most importantly, the keypad is simply more comfortable to type on. to me, the keys are more responsive and bigger and easier to type. second, watching full 29.97 fps mpeg4 videos at work with the screen horizontal and sitting on my desk is awesome. of course there is the video recording which is great, and the still pictures which are pretty good. the wifi does help a lot. it is much faster than edge. i use it when i can. just overall i feel that it is the best device out on the market thats easy to use and has it all.

First of all both the N93 and N73 are wonderfull phones so, there is no going wrong. It's just that you have to choose based on your needs.

N93 Good: Best video in phone land, WIFI, 3D hard ware, TV out, bragging rights, attention getter. Battery life better than N80.

Bad: Large.

n73: One of the best photo cameras around, small, better battery life than N80
Bad: NO WIFI, less features than N80, 93.

Looking at the above the only two things the N73 has over the N93 is a better picture quality and the N93 is not far behind, both are better than N80. The N73 is also smaller.
With the N93 you gain the best video, WLAN, UPNP, bragging rights and alot of attention from others what it is, and why it can transform like that. The picture is close. So i would ssay get N93.

bTW to the others that say the UPNP or WLAN is not usefull, it is...but you do have to do a litlle to get it working. Everyhwere I go there is wifi, so I can check something online or check my mail, without taking the big laptop.
And it is fun controling music and video on your media server with the N93. Or sending the songs you downloaded via wifi while you were out via UPNP back to your pc.

Get the N93, but if you don't need all of that the n73 is perfect, just less features and less obvious. Can't go wrong with either.

Alright!! THANK YOU all..

I made my choice.. You guys were very helpfull..

I'm keeping my N73!! and will wait for the n95 to come out!!

"That's the bottom line! Cause Stone Cold said so!!"

I could get it to do all that stuff. What I COULDN"T get it to do (that I fully expect it to) is:

1. Full file browsing either on PC browsing phone or vice versa
2. Streaming TO the phone FROM the PC (not the other way around)

The reason the N80's Wi-Fi seems so slow is because of the page rendering on the high resolution display. I've used Wi-Fi a fair bit with my N80, and the page is usually loaded before it's even rendered. A minor annoyance due to the high resolution screen.

You'll find that if you put say an N80 and an N93 side by side, both with the same Wi-Fi connection, that the N93 would load the page way faster, because of it's lower res' display and it's higher specced processor. This is just because that 330MHz advanced graphic accelorated processor can render loads quicker, than most mobile processors out there, including PDAs.

Useless info for ya there.
