from Blackberry to iphone

I just recently got a iphone 3G. Love the phone but I came from a Blackberry Tour and I find myself on occasion missing my BB. Has anyone else made the transition from BB to iphone and was it a easy one? Would u ever go back to it?

I was actually on a Storm->3G->3Gs thought i missed my BB and bought a Tour (now) but i find that i really dont miss the BB that much, there are more features on the iPhone that i miss now (mainly the browser, google maps and a buncha apps). I think at the end of the day i value the fun factor more than i thought.

Lmao I went from a 3G to bold and never looked back... mainly because a jailbroken 3G was just weak and I hated the onscreen keyboard. I adored the BB.

Everything that it does... it does well. Call quality was superb, the phone was fast, best keyboard, etc.

Would I go back? I doubt it simply because imo the 3GS is what the 3G should have been.... but then I also say the 3G is what the first gen iphone should have been.

If you do miss your blackberry... see if you can use one again for a while and see if you miss your iphone at that point. I didn't miss my iphone when I went to a blackberry.

Gave up my Blackberry when iPhone arrived. The other day I borrowed a friends BB Bold to surf the web and I realized the iPhone is operating at a different level of UI. In fact, the keyboard felt strange and difficult to relearn.

At the end of the day, the iPhone OS approach and UI are completely different than BB. I find it refreshing to use a device where I can browse and control my email and web browsing as I would on my computer. BB BIS did not interface well with my IMAP email account whereas the iPhone does. Therefore, my emails never sync'd well.

depends mostly on what you use your phone for, I use my bb 9700 for work and emails, but I have a iphone for entertainment and web browsing, but at the end if i had to really pick one I would take the BB, Ive actually been in meetings with some big players, head guys of million dollar companies that have said you look more professional with a blackberry than a Iphone.

I made the switch from a Curve to an iPhone. I dropped my 3G in the pool and it didn't work for a good week and so I switched back. I loved the Curve but it just doesn't work well when I don't have my push notifications to my iPhone with sports news and just everything about the iPhone is amazing.

People with the BlackBerry usually only like it cause of it's great email capabilities.

I have been almost notorious for my back and forth swiching from the BB to the iPhone...and back again. I sold my BB 9700 a couple of days ago and am again using an iPhone 3GS...and I really like it. Both phones are the very best at what they do best, and are mediocre at what they don't.

Frankly, for communication and being a mobile phone, the BlackBerry edges out the iPhone...simply because the RF and incoming call quality is so much better...or at least consistantly so. I can count on one hand the number of dropped calls I had on my 9700 in the four months I owned one. I have had that that many on my iPhone in three days of use.

But, as far as sheer ease of functionality...and, of course for the multimedia/browser performance...the iPhone is tops. It's an ok phone, but I can appreciate its "fun factor" now more than ever, since I got a little bored with the BB.

Overall...I'm cool with the iPhone for now. But, I might be carrying a BB again in a few months...or a few days! Who knows? But, no...today I don't miss my BlackBerry.

Give it at least 2 weeks. :D

When I left my Bold, the first week I contemplated several times getting another Bold. But I held out. Honestly - I think most people resist change, which sounds awkward considering the fact that most of us around here at some point or another, probably changed phones more times than we've changed underwear (well I hope not), haha

But the iPhone is getting there. 4.0 adds a lot of many needed features. After digging through the SDK and APIs and having 4.0 for almost 2 full days, there's a lot devs can do they never had the ability to do before.

Honestly - this time around, Apple has given devs the tools to utilize a lot of core functions, you may be surprised at what you see. Some people say 4.0 was too little too late or that it wasn't a WOW factor, but I don't think people will realize how big it is until they see how it can be implemented. I've been trying to weed through APIs for 2 whole days now and have only scratched the surface. Apple has given some amazing new tools and abilities to devs, which is huge for them. They are slowly moving away from that proprietary model.

As far as BB, it does what it's made to do well, but if you want multimedia and anything past that, BB isn't the right phone. I think RIM could do well with a little more innovation. But business is what they do best. I just wish they'd worry about their software and slow down on churning out the hardware. I think that's where they are lacking right now.

I went Blackberry Pearl 8100 > iPhone 3G > Blackberry Curve 8330 then 8530 > iPhone 3GS and Motorola Milestone (change from time to time).

I thought I'd miss Blackberry Messenger. I was still carrying my Blackberry on a different line. Now the people I'd be talking to on BBM are moving away from Blackberry devices so it doesn't matter to me anymore.

I was getting bored with Blackberry's, anyway.

i always switch back and fourth from a blackberry and a iphone...if i do go back to the iphone i usually miss the keypad. but when i go back back to the blackberry i really miss the web broswer since i browse alot on my phone.

I missed my Storm a bit (and still do), but the Iphone has much more to offer than any Blackberry going. The part of the blackberry I miss is how the email work and how you can set up filters through blackberry. That was always nice.

Coming from a Curve I didn't know how well I'd accustom to the iPhone keyboard but I did. In fact I'm faster w/accuracy on the iPhone now.

The browser and apps cannot compare.

The reps all seem like arrogant a-holes when I go to a store...but maybe I'm just going to an arrogant a-hole Verizon store, I dunno. ;)

AT&T has always treated me right. I can call them and pretty much get anything I want. And, the reps that I deal with at my local corporate stores are professional and cordial for the most part.

Same here, since 2004 Cingular now at&t have treated me great. Even when I had GoPhone service they gave me fantastic support. Now that I have post paid and a FAN discount I couldn't be more stratified. Also I find at&t's call quality is superior to Verizons. At my house Verizon sounds craptastic, while at&t sounds better than my land line. Even at my friends house with 2 bars EDGE calls sound fantastic.

Sorry to hear that. Poor customer service can really misrepresent a company. I'm glad I've never experienced that.

My only problem with AT&T is specific to my location. The area's I'm frequently in have poor AT&T service, Verizon has been strong wherever I go. Even through unpopulated areas.

I also prefer CDMA to GSM. If youre frequently traveling and use a data card like me, or tether your phone, CDMA seems to be the quicker of the two.

Hm, that seems really backwards to me. I can see preferring CDMA for voice quality as it has much better penetration, but the cap for GSM data is higher (almost double) than the cap for CDMA data speeds. I guess it depends on if you don't have 3G for one and you do for the other, but if you have 3G for AT&T and 3G for Verizon, the AT&T data should (theoretically) be quicker.

Reps really can make or break a loyal customer.

We actually don't have a Verizon OR T-Mobile corp store in our town even (closest ones are about 20 minutes away). But we have an AT&T corp store. The employees in there USED to be really good, but now they're arrogant, self-centered, and only worried about their commissions.

I've seen them trying to talk a 65 year old into a smartphone with data. Come on... I understand you live off what you sell, but there's a line you have to draw. You need to make sure you take care of the customer at the end of the day.

AT&T in general has never done me wrong. I go to the corp store about 35 minutes away because I refuse to step foot in the store in my town, because of those employees. It's annoying but honestly, I'd rather drive and give someone that deserves the commission that money. I wish they'd get better management and consultants in our store. Several people have complained but as far as I know, nothing's been done.

We used to have a VZW corp store, and they closed it, due to bad CS and low sales. That was several years ago. There's 3rd party stores (and for t-mobile), but no corp presence. We don't even have a sprint corp store.
