From a dealer, True or False?

This is a huge victory for ABATE as this is what's left of a bill meant to cover 2000-and-up models and required bi-annual smog inspection and EPA DOT compliant parts to pass. What you see above is what's left of the bill after a tough fight. Join your local ABATE and help out!

I stopped getting inspections on my bikes. One of my bikes had not been inspected in 3 years and I never got a ticket.

I know an inspector and he told me just don't get one and take the stickers off when they expire. The police will only stop you if they see your inspection is expired. If they can't see your sticker they won't stop you to look at your bike to see if you have one.

I hear ya, and I know what you're saying.
But I know my luck... Two days after I pulled the sticker I'd be sitting on the side of the road with one of VA's finest with him writing me tickets...

My dealer told me that they are aware of problems with the 2010 and 2011 exhausts but are unable to alter them in fear or losing their license. They said that you would only get caught if you got pulled over for some kind of ticket and the officer checked for your inspection sticker. I'd like to change out my exhaust but I don't think I really want to deal with that BS. Not sure how the aftermarket dealers are able to stay in business under those circumstances. One of them recently told me that none of their products are EPA compliant.

Agreed, I live on the other side of the mountain from you and our dealer has no issue with modded bikes....

That said, I'd never let bakersfield HD touch my bikes....

There's no inspection or smogging of bikes in California. They only recently passed a law for diesel trucks which goes into effect sometime in the next couple of years. I'm sure they'll eventually nail us too but, so far we're still "free". That's no to say though that it's strictly "legal" to modify one's exhaust...There's just no yearly inspection thereof. The same is true in many states...
