fring for N80?

Has anyone here been able to download fring for the N80? The have the SMS-to-get-the-download-link system, but of course it doesn't seem to want to send me one. Not much response from the fring support, other than asking for my number again.

For those who did get it, how's it work?

Anville,

Omri from fring support here...

Send me an email with your full international number and i'll send you a new SMS.
You'll be able to use fring and see for yourself.

Just tried it via both Opera and Firefox. Their site is down right now.

"You tried to access the address http://10.10.10.107/app/newproc.php, which is currently unavailable."

Sad...

Finally got the SMS. Fring seems to work pretty cool. Choppy over the EDGE connection, but that's to be expected. Very cool!

Nice advantage over the integrated VoiP is that I have the option to use the GPRS/EDGE connection at all!

i tried it on my n73
and its working fine ...
only problem is that application shuts down after a call or something like that ...
anyone else facing such a problem or is it me ?

Okay,Got the sms and installed the app. And I must say, FINALLY!!! A working app which gives me skype over wi-fi on the N91.

Skype works fine, shows my contacts list properly (unlike iskoot). The called party gets a message saying that I'm calling from skype mobile via www.fring.com. I haven't tried out GTalk yet, but will do so tomorrow.

Works nicely over wi-fi, voice is continous and clear. Only problem however, is the low volume.

@praz

I'm not getting any memory errors or random shutdowns.

The phone did hang once however, but that was bcos I tried accessing Papyrus during an ongoing voip call and messaging, contacts, log, services and Bluetooth were already running in the background.

The app does have a few quirks, but nothing major that I've noticed so far. I would love to talk/im/email to the fring team. So far, they've done a good job. I do have a few suggestions for the app as well.

@abhi
thanks for replying
looks like i got this problem only twice initially
but now when i am using the application again i am not getting any such problems

so i dont know what was the reason earlier on ...

Hi Guys,

On friday we open the D/L site for addtional S60v9 Nokia HSs. please have a look and do provide your inputs.

Thanks in advance

Roy Timor-Rousso (fring.com)

Overall, the app is definitely gr8! However, imo, it still needs some tweaking on the menus and usability aspect. And you must do something to increase the call volume tho. It was quite low and the volume indicator doesn't work.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
We would love to get detailed usability concerns and suggestions.
If possible, together with a detailed scenario and/or screen images.

I already got the issue of the volume and volume control.

You may do it here in the forum or directly via email to bz at fring.com

Downloaded and isntalled on my N73, works good, but when I'm chatting with a buddy on Gtalk, I can type a response but I can't send it.

Great MOIP product, though, blogged along with Tommi for maximum exposure. Keep up the great work.

**Edit** - a power cycle and I'm good to go.

on mi n80ie it also doesn't go any further than the first screen. just the first time so that i enter user and pass and that's it. it stays on this screen for a while and then it closes itself (or the phone kills it, i dunno). if it is any help for the developers, the wifi actually switches on while the app is running.

Hi finkbg,

Thanks for the info!
We have not encountered this issue with WiFi n N80i before (yet?). Would you mind if I or Omri from our support team will contact you directly to investigate this issue (bug?) thoroughly?

Thanks

Roy

Using Fring on my N73 with Cingular's EDGE and Gtalk (I'll probably create a Skype account soon, I suppose)

Bug: Sometimes when using chat, I'll get notification of a new message, but no message. Like the noise goes off and the backlight comes on, even opens a new chat window, but then there's no message.

A minor bug: When you sign into Skype and enter your username, you don't see the abc or the =abc sign above the text box.

Similar bug when you are on Skype Chat.
