"Fright Night" remake starring David Tennant

It seems that former Doctor Who actor, David Tennant, will be playing Peter Vincent, the role originated by Roddy McDowall in the 1985 film. I like David, but I was somewhat hoping for an older actor to play the role.

Haven't seen the original in years,but I remember the special effects and makeup being of a very high standard.Chris Sarandon was excellent and Roddy McDowell played his part to perfection.
I don't know how they intend to match the orginal,which was an 80's classic IMO,because comedy vampire movies weren't so familiar back then.Also,poorly done CGI could make it look naturally inferior to movie from 25 years earlier.

Nice cast for sure,but I think I'll wait until I can rent it on DVD (sick of paying to see poor remakes:().
 
Really? I love the 80s original and have it in my VHS collection. I love Lars and The Real Girl too but I am sick of these pointless remakes. If they were of films from the 50s/60s you could almost understand, but for god's sake, this was only 25 years ago when it was made? What's next, remakes of Se7en???
 
I never get why people say "dont remake it! This movie can't be remade! Don't do it! It's a mistake" etc - if you don't like the idea of the remake, DON'T BLOODY WATCH IT! It's not like the original has been deleted from history, just watch the DVD!

Besides (well not really) David Tennant is a competent actor, I'm sure he'll do fine with the material he's provided with.
 
It's not that I think "No way can they remake this".What irks me about all these horror remakes is that the money could have been spent on original screenplays,or at least adaptions of fictional horror.Another issue is that a well known movie is difficult remake (to a good standard) without moving far enough away from the source material,something the producers don't seem willing to do.
 
oh dear..It seems i was thinking of Vamp film, where
they visit a disco and its run by vampires..Grace Jones is in it, and i remember she rips this girls heart right out..Eughhh..lol
