I was at my friends home, and parked. We got into his to go out. And he backed into my car. My mother had told me to get his insurance information, but he refused to give it. and said he would pay me some money. I talked to his mother, and she seemed very unapologetic. Now he is avoiding the situation, and i told him my mother got an estimate for her friend,it is $390 which made it around 90$ less than other places. Now he is telling me, His parents told him not to pay because I was parked where they told us not. I have never been told to not park somewhere. And since he doesn't want to pay, I have saved a few text messages admitting he hit my car for possible court. and also, took a photo of cars parked in the same area as i was, just to have some proof for court. Am i approaching this the correct way? Any advice? I don't want to end a friendship over this,
I didn't file a claim because he wouldn't give his information, is it too late to do so? even without his information? Should I get it repaired and sue for damages and what else? Emotional distress?
