Fried charging system on 2006 Suzuki GSXR-600!?

My husband jumped his GSXR off a running vehicle a while back and I think the charging system is screwed up. He was told that jumping it off like that would not hurt a thing, but his battery will NOT hold a charge now. Yesterday we bought a brand new battery and the bike cranked right up and he rode a while. This morning it is dead and makes a ticking noise when you try to crank. So, my question is, how to fix the charging problem??? Any ideas would help

I'm with James, I seriously doubt you hurt anything since the bike does run. It's probably the stator on the alternator. I know some people will say the voltage regulator, but over the years I've had five stators fail on different bikes but have never had a voltage regulator fail. Checking the stator is pretty easy and doesn't take much time at all. Stators are rather expensive, probably $100-$200 plus installation.

Jump starting the bike likely did no harm, but the charging system is obviously not working. If you have no experience diagnosing charging systems, take it to a dealer.
