Friday the 13th Sequels: Any Good?

I've just been browsing around IMDB.com and noticed that a new Friday the 13th film is supposed to have started production, for release in 2009. As far as I can tell from the provided plot outline, it seems like a re-make of Friday the 13th Part 2. Thoughts?

I read the first draft of some of the plot and it appears that it is more a reimaging of the franchise then just the first 2 movies.
According to the first draft Jason is not going to be the supernatural zombie type we are used to and it is revealed he lives under tunnnels arround Crystal lake, apart from that it is the usual generic F13th movie with him stalking and killing lots of teens (About 7 in the first 10 mins .).

Judging by how it is focusing on multiple murders/gore over tension and the plot is so passe after 30 years of slasher movies I dont hold much hope for this version.Of course this is a first draft but the fact the company behind it is the same as The Hitcher remake doesnt fill me with much confidence.

Looking forward to the Hellraiser remake much more.

I consider AVP to be a better film then any Friday the 13th entry.

I'm sure by that comment alone you will see I have no love for Jason Voorhees, because I certainly have no love for Paul W.S. Anderson.

Ridley Scott's "Alien" is one of my favourite films.

I can understand why they put Jason in a VS. movie with Freddy Krueger, but it was rather silly at the end of the day. The fight wasn't bad though.

Comparing "Friday the 13th" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street", is like comparing "Ghoulies" to "Gremlins". ;)

It's always subjective but i tend to agree with 5th Horseman, in that Jason X was the best of the sequels. As I recall, Jason X actually received better critical acclaim as well (not that any of the sequels were that popular with critcs, mind you!) This was mainly on account of it's relative originality. To quote Jamie Russell at the BBC for example: "Fortunately, "Jason X" breaks the franchise curse by offering something original - a fiendish sense of humour...as far as the "Friday" series goes, this is more fun than anyone had any right to imagine."

I did like Freddy v. Jason as well. But if we're talking about which of the slasher films was best, well nothing in any of the franchises came even remotely close to the original Halloween...

Jason v Michael Myers, now that one would be worth watching! :)

Part six is the best of the sequels simply because it has Alice Cooper on the soundtrack.
Jason X was brilliant (the humour was intentional) and it had better production values than it's predecessors.
Jason V Freddie was okay but to be honest I didn't rate it that highly.
