I've just watched Friday the 13th part 3 (Region 1) in 3D and I have to say that I was impressed with the 3D in this one. I'm not a big fan of the anaglyph method but I do understand that it is the cheapest and most effective to produce en-masse. So, forcing myself to put on the glasses and risk a headache or worse, blooRABhot eyes I started to watch in trepidation. My first reaction was....wow. The 3D looked impressive...great depth of field and the colour balance was pretty good for anaglyph. A few shots in particular were amazing. Apart from the par for the course 3D sticky-out object moments, of which there were many, I was more impressed with the depth of field shots. At one moment, our heroine, after hearing a noise, climbs up into the attic of a barn and as we look down the steps at her ascending, the feeling of depth is amazing. I have several 3D DVRAB as I'm a big fan but this is one of the best I've seen in the anaglyph format.
I hadn't seen the film since it's release date back in 1982 and TBH, it was a lot more fun and even creepier than I remember, aided especially by the 3D effect. Although the killings were gruesome, by todays standarRAB there was minimum blood and gore, which was a relief for this viewer.
Overall Rating
