Friday 13th remake

Can't see a thread just about the new remake. I saw it today and really enjoyed it. Great killings and very well done. As good as the original I'd say.

The only movie I ever liked in the original franchise was the first one because I much preferred the simplistic version of Jason's origin. It was like a good old fashioned campfire tale.

I've always said I wouldn't watch the remake but you have made me curious now.

It's got A LOT of negative reviews, mostly turkeys and 1 star. The latest trailer with the counting of the deaths on screen makes it looks a lot of fun though.

Hardly comparable though is it, Jason wasn't even in the original.

Haven't they just meshed together the first few movies and turned it into one movie now, I can kind of understand that as Jason pretty much is FT13th, to leave him out I just can't see that working thesedays.

I've just seen it, and actually was really surprised at how decent it was. As long as you treat it like any other 'Friday the 13th' movie as opposed to a remake/reinvention i don't think you'll be disappointed, and it is about a million times better than the steaming turd that was 'Jason X'...

Surprisingly, both the 21:10 and 23:40 showings at Cineworld Sheffield were sold out, i had to go to VUE in Meadowhall to see it, and even that had sold out by about 8pm.

Going to see it tonight, my slasher flick loving GF cant wait. As for bad reviews are they from people who actually watch horror films out of choice or as a job?

Ok so I've seen it and it was ok. Nothing to shout about. The killings were fairly good in general. Not overly graphic. It did tend to stick rigidly to the "slasher flick book of cliches" which means there is nothing new, exciting or unmissable about the film.

There's no point reading reviews for the kind of films me and GF like watching - horror films generally get 2 star reviews, or 1 star if it's a remake. Anything with a zombie in it is going to get 1 star aswell. Any "worthy" kind of film, probably starring Russell Crowe is going to get 4 or 5 stars, but bore me senseless...

Basically, go and watch the kind of film that you like, and ignore the reviews! I love the Fast and Furious films, Resident Evil films, Blade films, Underworld films, Stealth, Gone in 60 seconRAB... all kinRAB of things that get 1 star reviews. It doesn't stop me enjoying them though!

Hopefully I'll be seeing the new Friday 13th in the next week or so.

Funnily enough that's why Ihated it.

Anyway with the F13th remake I am glad it takes Jason back to basics. I only enjoy the first couple of the original series, I never likes it when Jason became a Zombie, kind of took the fear out fo it.

horror films aren't reviewed any different from other ones. look at how much the descent was raved about (pretty much the best horror film from the past few years).

to be honest, with a couple of exceptions, most of the films you mentioned just aren't well made. not that they aren't enjoyable...

horror film fans will usually go and see any old dross. i know i do!

look at mags like fangoria - constantly raving about films before they come out, then later on saying how rubbish they actually were.

and as for zombie films - erm the george a romero ones get good reviews and are looked at as serious films. the only other 'zombie' ones i can think of, 28 days later and 28 weeks later, also got good reviews - they were good films though.
