Frequent UTI's and doctor is sending me for tests?

I used to get UTI's quite frequently, almost monthly. I've not had one for almost 8 months until just now, and I am pretty sure I know why - I just got back from a vacation with a group of people. I drank mostly soda and very little (if any) water, I swam in a chlorine pool, sat in a hot tub and jacuzzi, sharing a bathroom with pokey people (who would sometimes take up to an hour). Not to mention, coming home nearly at least half the rest stops were closed and I was unable to use the bathroom, making me hold it.

Well, I figured I had a UTI after I started getting the symptoms and thinking of my vacation I wasn't surprised. I went to the doctor and he confirmed that I did have a UTI but also referred me to another doctor to have a tube put in me to check my kidneys out. This scares me and upsets me. This test was mentioned before in the past, but it was about a year ago and I had two more unexplained UTI's after that. I don't understand why he seems so concerned now when I basically know why I got an UTI this time, and didn't seem concerned with the two before this.

I'm worried about the test and it hurting, has anyone had this done? Also why would my doctor seem so concerned now when I basically know why this happened?

Thanks.
For the most part, I do have a very good diet. I eat healthily and except for this vacation, I drink adequate amounts of water daily, which I think has kept me from getting UTI's the last few months.

A UTI is a UTI nothing more, nothing less. If your doctor has not given you another diagnosis don't worry. Consistent UTIs are EXTREMELY common in women and there are several treatable causes - but the main point is that they are generally not serious.

Try drinking more water, urinating after intercourse and consuming cranberry juice (unless you are on warfarin or other anticoagulants). Cranberry juice is SUPERB for UTIs.

Having a Cystourethroscopy done only takes a few minutes and is only slightly uncomfortable. In some cases a simple dilation of the urethra can resolve the problem.

Go and have it checked out since you've been having these UTI's on a regular basis.

Also, if you wear thong's you might want to avoid them as they've been known to cause irritation/infections.

You need to have it done. It doesn't matter that you think you know what caused it. You have frequent UTIs that need to be checked out. It can cause major kidney damage. So, get it done. They usually put you to sleep for it, so it won't hurt at all.

Even though you only mentioned your diet during your vacation
you should maybe look at your regular diet.
You should have a well balanced diet and drink PLENTY of water.
Esspecially for someone prone to UTIs!!!

I am prone them and I get them so often I have given up on antibiotics and I just use home methods.

Make sure to take a good cranberry supp.
Solaray makes a really good one called Cranaction.
It prevents the bacteria from collecting on the walls of your bladder.

Hopefully it is just your diet and not something else.
