I've been in love with the French cinema ever since my Dad showed me Jean de Florette when I was 15 and I'm so glad to see a new Sky channel totally dedicated to French movies...Cinemoi!

Has anyone else heard about it and please tell me there are other deep and artistic people out there that aren't totally swamped into Hollywood's tacky output!

Dammit - the closest I get is FilmFour on my Virgin Media package.

I love French films too - the language is so beautiful and after a while I just forget I'm watching subtitles. My favourite is A Very Long Engagement, followed by Angel-A and He Loves Me He Loves Me Not. I have "Etre et Avoir" still to watch :)

I like world and British cinema in general, with Run Lola Run, Secrets and Lies, City of God and Bad Education being in my favourite film list (which is, it has to be said, quite lengthy).

I lurve French films! Can't help it. Exy used to complain that French films are awful
because they are all about people being unfaithful.
I like Francois Ozon and remember a film from BBC2 about a man and his daughter with part of it being set in the future? Wish I knew the name! It's from the 70's

anyone seen l'appartement? the sort of thing i think hitchcock would have made if he were still alive

only the french can make films about middle aged people sitting around smoking and talking about relationships absolutely gripping

my favourites are 'i've loved you for so long' and 'un couer en hiver' from the early 90s

What a strange, and somewhat over-the-top, comment to make. Do you hate every single Sky customer - even though you don't know the majority of them? And you have no frienRAB or relatives who subscribe to Sky TV? Or if you do, you secretly hate them?

Are you secretly jealous of them? :D I was for years, as I was unable to have Sky. Finally we have discovered that we can, and mine is being installed tomorrow! I cannot WAIT :D

What do you have against Sky? Iit's not cheap but it's probably the only tv network doing anything that doesn't involve chavbaiting crap or ballroom dancing in peak hours. Where else do you get to see (legally), 24, BSG, The Wire, Burn Notice, Sarah Connor, etc.?

if you want french telly, theres ways around it, i've started a thread in the non-specific satellite forum as my OH lived in france for years and wants to start catching up on french telly again, better than paying

I understand your sentiment. I have all sort of objections to Sky but it is a reality though and it isn't going to go away.

Re the channel itself, its a nice addition to the schedules. I can only see a very very select few being prepared to pay

Who has seen La Pianiste ? That film is amazing!

I would love to have that channel. I am always on Film four, or Sky Movies Indie, trying to search for any french upcoming movies they will broadcast :D

Jeux d'efants is another favourite of mine. And also Paris, Je t'aime was good. There is more. I love Roman Duris and Melvil Poupaud, great actors
