Freedom Mini BT Keyboard and N73

Just to let anyone know if they are interested. I have a Freedom Mini BT Keyboard that I had purchased to use with a past pda/phone and when I got my N73 I was dissapointed because the Freedom Mini Keyboard web site states the keyboard doesnt work yet with the N73. It says that drivers are coming soon.

I figured out that if you go into the Download application on the N73 (I assume this would be the same for a lot of other N series phones) and select Nokia Extras and then download and install the keyboard app you can pair up with the Freedom Mini and use it fine.

I rarely use it but its nice to have for the occasional necessary long email.

That's the kind of picture that makes those boys at motorola get weak in the knees......that's a Nokia add If I've ever seen one!

of course....I always slide the phone holder out because whichever phone I use rattles off and onto the keyboard when I'm pounding away!

Wirelessly posted (Nokia N73: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6540/1558; en; U; ssr))

With either of these BT keyboards.. Are there keyboard mappings for all keys on a n73 (save for camera obviously)? Meaning you can switch apps, etc. and be completely on the keyboard without having to touch the phone going from sms to browser to contacts for example?

Yep, all the buttons are there, save for the Red/Green ones, I think. You can see the soft buttons on the right side of the spacebar, and then the menu/msg keys further to the right, so all the functions should be there =)

N95 + ProPorta Mobile Device Charger + Su-8W + unlimited data plan = Wee!

On the same subject it looks like there will finally be a 9.1 driver for the Vkb

According to their forum it should be released around the 10th of March

Typing just doesn't get any cooler than this.

Um, same question on the Apple BT keyboard. Can you assign button mappings and such to use it without touching the phone to do things? I've got 6 Macs (business) but none are setup for BT keyboards...that could change easily though!

Thanks!

i have found these out so far for the apple:

left apple key is left soft key
right apple key is right soft key
shift left apple is green
shift right apple is red

haven't figured out menu key yet, or the center button on the d-pad.

Thanks for the help, beatniks3!

Seems that I've already got the right external BT adapter on the Macs (DLink DBT-120 rev4) and OS version to use the Apple BT keyboard. Looks like ~$45 gets me hooked up to do this if I go with the Apple BT keyboard solution, for both my desktops and my N73!

Now....I've just got to decide if the other two fit the bill a bit better 'size wize'.....and worth the extra $$.

no problem.

the extra money for the smaller ones will pay for itself in convenience IMO if you are going to take it place to place, but if you can find multiple uses for the apple/desktop keyboard and you are going to use it primarily in one spot, it should be considered.

i had it laying around so i started playing around with it and the N80 when i saw a blog about it over at e-series.org.

do you have an M3? what year?
