Free Unlock for Egold Lite based LG phones (KP100, GB102 etc.)

I get error:boot-1st-stage / boot-2nd-stage missing or invalid !
I'm using USB to serial on COM port 3,I'm sure I changed directory on command shell to the directory I put the files in (c:\lg)
the phone is already on
 
guyjim, just to play it safe, it might be a good idea to try another system like linux with the scripts - usually, the linux drivers for rather odd hardware like rs232 converters are of much higher quality.
 
how do I read the code in the file. bin, because my screen after the calculation of the code closes quickly making it impossible to see the generated code, tks
 
will be very nice something more easy, don't? I mean, for free of course..this is an old model
 
Okay, I can perhaps try it sometime using Knoppix.. I think it already comes with Python installed? What else would I need? Do you know where I can find drivers for the PL2303 for use with Linux?

Trying to unlock GB102
I have d/l all needed files.
Need some help with the cable connection now.
1. What is the best/easiest cable to use?
2. Do i need to modify it and how?
3. Can someone post screenshot of where the testpoint or tx,rx and ground wires go.

Hi.

I am trying to unlock an LG GB102 mobile phone which is locked to T-Mobile UK.

I have downloaded the python script from Dogbert's Blog, I also have the boot-1st-stage.bin and boot-2nd-stage.bin files downloaded from within this thread, and I have installed python, pywin32 and pyserial.

I am running Windows XP and have a Philex Serial RS232 to USB adapter, it is PL2303 based. When I plug it in my PC assigns it to COM15.

I have soldered wires from the GB102 PCB for RX, TX and GND to pins 2, 3 and 5 respectively of a 9 pin D type socket. This has been connected to the Serial RS232 to USB adapter.

When I open the CLI, navigate to the folder containing the script and type "lg-unlock.py --port COM15 -e" (without quotes), then turn the phone on; nothing happens.. "Waiting for bootstrap loader (press ON key)..." continues to be displayed constantly.

I have tried a different USB port which gives a COM port number of COM16, but still the same problem. I have also tried changing the COM port number to COM2, but again still the same problem.

I have even tried a different PC and I still have the same problem.

What am I doing wrong? Should there be a SIM card in the GB102 or not? When I get the "Waiting for bootstrap loader (press ON key)..." message I press and hold the power button on the GB102 - is this the correct procedure?

By the way, I need to to know others EGOLD Lite based models...we know: KP100 and GB102, but not other models else? please...a FULL list...

guyjim, I reckon a ubuntu livecd should do the job - python as well as the drivers are installed by default, pyserial is not, but you can easily install it on a ramdisk from a booted ubuntu livecd.
