Free Unlock for Egold Lite based LG phones (KP100, GB102 etc.)

the kp170 is probably an AD chipset, not an egold.

leonie, you disregarded any information given in the thread.
 
I have to put an accepted sim to unlock the phone with the software LG-Free_Unlock_ Egold_Lite?

guyjim, this then sounds like a hardware issue - I suggest you try another cable (pl2303 are usually quite robust, though) or you try to trace the signals with a digital oscilloscope.

Tried Hyperterminal, but no response to AT command. When the phone is connected to the PL2303 cable, and then the USB is plugged into the computer, it vibrates for a few seconds. That's all that happens.
 
This is the error hangs reading the eeprom, and changed the speed, tell me if there is something I'm doing wrong, greetings and thanks/
 
1. Install python 2.x (e.g. http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.2/python-2.6.2.msi )
2. Install pyserial (e.g. http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyserial/files/pyserial/pyserial-2.4.win32.exe/download )
3. Install pywin32 (e.g. http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/pywin32/pywin32-214.win32-py2.6.exe/download )
4. Unpack the script and the boot files to a directory on your harddrive, e.g. c:\LG
5. Open a command shell (win+r, cmd )
6. Change to the directory you've just created: 'cd \LG'
7. Connect the cable to the cell phone and start the script with the name of the COM port as parameter:
'lg-unlock.py --port COM3 --baud 460800 -e'
8. Presto!
 
I successfully unlocked a GB100 today, I used a FTDI based cable, when I run the application, the phone start to vibrate and the PCD becomes gray, strange but I just press the power button and the LCD turns off again and the software detects the phone and starts the unlocking process.

It read the code correctly

I used 460800 Bps as speed

It did not work for me at 921K or 115.2K

I used the PCB contacts to solder 3 wires, tx, rx, gnd, there was no need to disassemble the set...

Well the cable is "Philex" branded, and when inserted to a PC shows up as "GMTek" brand.

I tried drivers from the Philex website and they are Prolific drivers from circa 2002..

It is Prolific PL2303 inside as I levered it open to check..

I agree with you and I will try and get another PL2303 based cable.. it may take 2-3 weeks before I receive it, after that I'll post my results with the new cable..
