Free IPv6 News Servers

I think it has something to do with WinXP because I know other people that have done it with Vista and they can use alt.binz, newsleecher, or grabit no problem. I believe it has something to do with the sharing of the internet connection with the Go6 connection. At least thats the only explanation I can think of.

eweka stopped for me a while ago but was using xsnews but that just stopped working for me too :( too much of a good thing and for free as well so can't complain. Thanks for the guide anyhows :) ah well back to virgin's 7 day retention unless anyone has come up with any more freebies???

Yeah it only has a 100 day retention, but as long as the PARS are not incomplete and you have enuff of the file at least it can be repaired.

Also in this thread there a trick to use Newsleecher too if anyone prefers that over SABnzb and you can also do that trick for any newsreader too I think.

yes it is
Well I made the IPv6 tests some time ago.
Now I remember that I couldn't create the "tunnelbroker", did the same thing today and it said:

I have windows firewall turned off.
Using Windows Vista x64 Business

Sorry meant to reply a few days ago, but try this: In the go6 client, go to: Advanced tab: and change YOUR "tunnel" mode until you find the right one you need :)

Are these servers working fine for you atm? Wasn't using them for a month or so. And when I tried today none of them worked. I'm using SABnzbd.

Well Newsleecher and others won't until you do this:

1.cmd>netsh interface portproxy add v4tov6 listenport=119 connectaddress=news.ipv6.eweka.nl connectport=119
2.server address- localhost

If you can load SABnzbd via Opera you should be fine.

if your on the go6/freenet6 tunnels it appears they had/still have a few IPv6 routing problems, but newszilla6.xs4all.nl:119 is working again today.

news.ipv6.eweka.nl:119: 0
reader.ipv6.xsnews.nl:119: 0
are still down though....

e94mli, Go6 Enthusiast and go6 servers tech guy said "It is not you. Xsnews is having some problems with the IPv6 service."
but no word on why eweka isnt working again, if it ever will.

yesturday you couldnt reach www.kame.net over V6 IPs, but you can today, at least logged in on the amsterdam.freenet6.net connection so somethings being worked on somewere it seems.

why go back, why not also include that IPv4 connection in your bonding SABnzbd+ 0.4.11 news app, it works fine for me.

currently i have both the newszilla6.xs4all.nl:119 and the news.virginmedia.com:119 set for first try, and the other IPv6 set as fallover/Backup server:.

if your on VM, setting news.virginmedia.com:119 with 5 connections seems to max out my connection mostly before STM kicks in OC, but their news groups and 7 day max retention with lots of cancelation requests are a slight problem.

id still like to see a web based or rss feed of what TV,film, and APPs going into all the popular news.virginmedia.com binry groups so as to then auto-select the newest nzb's if they show up there first before getting outbound peered with the other news servers later.

that way VM end user people and others might start to think about automating their own smaller selections for private end user to end users peering and sharing their content longer term way past the 7 days.

But I need to install the program that comment for ipv6? I have followed the patterns of the first post and tunnelbroker.net

why there are people who work it and others not?

Do you get the same error as me?

Eweka's service has been spratic of lately...just give it some time, seems it's working for other people.

yeah your right SonsOfLiberty, it did come back for me later...

i really like SABnzbd+ as its the only one iv found that works remotely, and in "bonded" modes too, plus can be 3rd party extended OC, so thanks for your second post on the thread refering to that.

BTW i think i found a bug in the current SABnzbd+ 0.4.9,and the one before it at least(thats all i tryed) a real show stopper after getting those errors above.

were do we report these bugs and get feedback threads ?, any idea, perhaps the SABnzbd+ Devs are here and reading this and related SABnzbd+ thread?

it appears that the once you set and get 2 or more servers set for "bonded" download (as apposed to "Backup server:") and get those "ERROR [newswrapper] Failed to connect: (10061, 'Connection refused') ..." the core demon sabd gets blocked or locks up and stops all data flow from the other threads working...

in effect you have to click que/pause,go to setting/servers,and set the problem server(s) as backup, and save the settings, THEN kill the sabd in memory somehow, to then restart it from the shell, and providing it saved the backup settings you can then unpause it and it works again.

i cant work out of its the core sabd server crashing or just being fed data it cant handle and so endless loops, locking the other input/ouput ,in effect the same thing, data stops flowing and you CANT use it again until you have done the above and restart the sabd demon....

PS. the Hurricane http://tunnelbroker.net/ doesnt work with Nated 3G connections but http://go6.net/ does, works great infact so use that wereever you need it.

not found a small self contained working IPv6 News server/DNS i could use on go6's auto supplyed "delegated user domain" for the given IP's http://go6.net/4105/freenet.asp , anyone got any hints, pointers to URLS for such apps used.working with go6 IPv6 etc!!

working:
sab>vista>tunnel>wireless-router>cableBB>IPv6NewsServer

not working:
sab>vista>tunnel>firewall>wireless-router>cableBB>IPv6NewsServer

so clearly its not the wireless router or any internal firewall it might also have set with a problem...

that only leaves your PCs software firewall, theres just something clearly wrong there so thats were you need to concentrate your efforts it seems.

off the cuff thought, does this ESET firewall filter OFF the IPv6 traffic by default or something?, do a google search, i dont have time right now to do it, and see if others have problems with ESET firewall and ipv6 data packets.

perhaps you can totally uninstall it temp (sometime they leave things around, and still attached to the network stack if you just disable them), and put another make of SW firewall on there to see if that then works for you, if so you have to find the right settings for this ESET firewall or just not use it anymore until its fixed or you find the right settings.

"I dont get a flapping turtle on kame.net, although sites like go6.net say that i have ipv6 "

thats odd but iv no clue why it might be right now, you know its working when you take the broken software firewall out of the chain, so id assume turtle is just playing up for now.
