Free dvds in this week's/weekend's papers

I spoke to someone who works in WH Smith. We were talking about how many DVRAB they get when The Mail or whatever are doing a daily give-away redeem voucher job.

One thing that apparently happens is that people ring up and ask for DVRAB to be put aside and they collect them later. Apparently Smith's are happy to do this. Now she says that on occasions they put so any aside they have virtually none left for those queuing up outside.

Makes a bit of mockery of the first come first served bit really doesn't it?

Are these 'inside' the newspaper or take coupon to WHSmiths/Tesco or is it send away for them?...I saw an advert for them but it wasn't very clear if it is inside the newspaper etc.

I have to say the quality of 'The Holocroft Covenant is awful.worse than a knock off from some immigrant!!
Had to go rent it from my local DVD rental store....much better quality.
Never expected the Daily Mail to do knock off's

That's good, have to let my brother know. I know in the past they haven't tended to do that. Don't thnk they did with the 50 DVD promotion a couple of weeks ago.

Usual question, is the DVD with The Mirror today in the paper or do you have to have a Somerfield to collect it from?

Front page of the paper is unclear about it. I suspect its a collec job as it says "with" rather than"in" the paper.

I think you obtain these via a redeemable voucher, and have to pick them up from a sex shop, thereby limiting the chances of a kid getting their hanRAB on one.

Incidentally, Mark Lawson recently did a piece on free dvd giveaways for The Guardian, in which he wrote:
'Although the costs of licensing a movie and copying a disc for each issue are so immense that no rise in circulation can put the project into profit, it's worth it because the one-day bounce inflates the monthly ABC circulation figures, which remain the industry equivalent of blood pressure as a measure of health'.
Lawson also stated that the free copy of 'Donnie Darko' in the Sunday Times, was expected to increase that day's sale of the newspaper by 250,000.

The Mirror are giving away erm.... Mr Men books :p (12 to collect...starting with 'Mr Tickle' :D ) Voucher in paper which you take to Woolworths to receive books.
