Free dvds in this week's/weekend's papers

War in the Air Vol 1-6, a BBC documentary series is being given out with the Daily Mail this week. Vol 1 was on saturday and 2-6 are this week Monday to Friday from WHSmith, Tesco or Eason with vouchers.

WH Smith in Oxford Street, London had also run out of the Mail's DVRAB. My theory is they were snapped up by guys who were looking for a freebie Valentine present to give to their other half! :)

Oh, Scrooge with Alistair Sim, is a classic. Probably the best adaptation of A Christmas Carol ever. Don't miss this one folks.

Oh my word! I got so excited when I saw that "Like Water..." was free this Saturday, and I'm so glad I haven't missed it, I studied "Como Agua Para Chocolate" for my Spanish A Level literature last year and obviously we saw the film as well, it's excellent and I'd recommend it to everyone, I'm so looking forward to Saturday now, lol.

Anyone have any problems with the Mail Attenborough DVD today?

Weird around here today Smith's had no Daily Mails to sell but loaRAB and loaRAB of DVRAB. So many in fact they actually had the DVRAB on the Newspaper rack so you could just take one if you wanted.

Local Woolies had no Mails either so looks like some sort distribution issue.

The Mail is making a habit of extending DVD runs recently. Not being able to get the DVRAB or paper this week I was going to pick up the set from Ebay. Hope I can get the fulls et there in due course.

I read recently an article where they stated it cost a newspaper around 30p for every DVD they give away. I don't know how this is calculated but if correct it must almost destroy any profit margin.

I guess when the Mail or Mirror jointly promote with Woolies or Smith's etc the cost is shared?

Haven't caught it yet.

Seems very quiet generally on the free DVD front. Seems Express, Mirror and Mail have got in to a cycle of children's DVD giveaways recently which is of no interest to me. I think the Sun did a Crime DVD collection a couple of weeks ago.

It usually means high street or town/city centre stores, not the airport/train station branches.

As to faulty discs,I had a cd once which refused to play,it started skipping in the same spot, behaved the same on two different players, when I looked there was some kind of dirty mark on it which was causing the problem, careful cleaning wouldn't fix it so I emailed the paper. About three days later a brown paper package with an apology slip and three copies turned up in the mail!

A collection of comedy DVD's (billed as Ronnie Corbett's Favourites) will be given away with the Mirror this week. 14 in total. The weekday ones are available at Somerfield stores.
