Anyone looking for VOIP SIP that really works well and is easy to install. I have just installed Truphone on my E61 and it works great!

Its more complicated than that, they send you individualized settings for your account. You'll need to send an email to their tech-support.
 
I am trying the software right now and it seems great. I have successfully used the software on my home and work Wifi networks and on a free random network I found while walking down the street. There is some cutout every now and again and I experienced a few dropped calls. I wouldn't say they are ready for retail prime time yet, but they are VERY close. I don't think they have a ton of users yet so it remains to be seen if they can scale up successfully if they make out of beta. It really is free calls to the US and Canada so I'll take a few bugs for that perk. They also have free voicemail and US or UK phone number.

I must comment however that I just upgraded from 6682 to E70 and this is the first app I have used that makes the E-Series the killer device over other series 60 without WLAN and makes me say wow. I am in NYC so obviously I have no 3G connection but there is free wifi EVERYWHERE in this city.

Pros:
Sounds decent with little to no lag
-Free (for now)
-EASY setup compared to other VOIP solutions
-No 3rd party registering like PBXEs or anything
-Standards based SIP support (unlike Skype)
-Free Voicemail and US or UK phone number which forwards to your email as .wav so when coupled with a push email solution if you are away from wifi you can reply with a cellular call!
-Did I mention Its FREE

Cons:
-Some VOIP sound quality issues
-Tech support is a taste slow (they are based out of a farm in England!)
-General lack of information about the product roadmap.

Conclusion :

This application is every carriers worst nightmare and is why Cingular disabled the Wi-fi on E62 and T-mobile are moving quickly to set up their own UMA handoff system. This is a direct to consumer product, I can make free phone calls at home and free phone calls at work! The setup is simple and any noob will have no problem installing. It just works, with little setup issues. Their setup wizard even configures your phone to dial the Truphone voicemail system when you hold down 1. The only problems may be connecting via Hotspot but apparantly it works over those systems too as reported in their support forums.

I had an OMG moment earlier on this evening when I realized that out of 10 phone calls today from my mobile only two were over cellular, I have two working phone numbers on one device!
Those who were scared to hop on the VOIP bandwagon due to setup issues should try this out.

Truphone have a killer app on their hands and after working through their small bugs database and with the right marketing moves could turn this product into a real winner.
 
I'm on Cingular in the US and can't get any response from the text I sent them to get the wizard in the first place.

EDIT: I see that on other forums, this is an issue for Cingular customers and emailing them is an alternative for people with my carrier. Never mind.
 
It is free for now, but the call quality and latency seems to suck compared to others. There are other VOIP providers that seem to do a much better job than Truphone and will be basically the same price when Truphone is not in beta.
 
I definitely have a bit more latency using truphone, but (in my opinion) the voice quality is just as good or better than cellular. Most people seem to be very impressed with the voice quality.

their tech support treated me well enough, i hadnt got the sms but i emailed them and they hooked me straight up, goin to give it a run soon
how do other free voip companies comapre with regards to quality?
 
after tweaking and encountering a couple bugs im up and going
i called a friend of mine in Canada for half hour and he iddnt even know it was voip
im in Jamaica and they gave me the access a US user would
i called a local friend here with the 2US they give u and it cost about 7c us which is pretty good as local calling charges are around 14c US per minute

I have the new firmware on my E70-2 now (2.0618.07.10 31-08-06 RM-24).
When I go to the link that was texted to me it says, "We're sorry but your handset is not supported at present." Does anyone have this working on an E70-2? Any ideas?
 
Are there any free voip for the E61 that I can get a US phone number and call around the US and hopefully Canada also? Also like the poster above asked, any that work well over EDGE? Mainly I want a US phone number.
 
been using it for a while now... about a month...

it works fantastically well, i use it to make free calls at home, school and work, and if you ask for more credit, they give you more for free (until they sort out their systems to accommodate buying credit in real time online) and with that credit i can call home to the UK. it's really been helping my phone bill, and my clients in the US who have mobiles that have free national calling (most of them) can call me for free on my truphone (+1 310 based) number.

great stuff, i wish there was more insight into where this technology leads, though.
 
What are the chances they will keep calls from the US to other US #rs free? I don't mind paying to other countries but I really don't want to start paying for free calls to the US. Not when I'm paying for other phones that will do that already.
