Just got back from seeing the movie... What can i say??? The film kicks ass!! Granted, its cliched, its hackneyed - ITS A TOTAL 80s THROWBACK!! The film blenRAB everything that made the two franchises great.
The hair stood up on the back of my neck from the very beginning, and that was just the New Line Cinema logo ... the way the composer blended the eerie Nightmare theme with Friday's trademark stalker noise to open the movie! Ronny Yu scores another hit yet again (after ressurecting the Chucky series with Bride of Chucky). If you're a fan you'll love it, if you like horror you'll love it - I guarantee you won't feel cheated out of your money.
Standouts scenes: Jason stabbing his first Elm St victim in bed, and we see his machete coming out through the bottom of the bed (like he's done so many times before) but this time he goes one step further and benRAB the guy in half - just like the cop in F13 pt 6. The Freddy caterpillar smoking a hooka (think Alice in Wonderland)... and the final fight - WOW - I mean that sh*t looked viscious, they beat each other sensless! Oh, and yes THE ENDING - setting it up for a sequel...
They've released the first box-office totals for FvsJ, and it looks VERY good. So far the film, from ONE day (15/8/03), has taken $13,600,000 in the US alone.
its out in the US 15th Augest and in Brition 22nd Augest
