I can't say it didn't make me laugh. But it seems like they don't care. It's like these Harvard writers only write from the Simpsons as a right of passage before they write some horrible, incomprehensible artistic film screen play or something.
I am a Huge Simpsons fan and have been since the Tracey Ulman shorts. That said, I haven't seen too many worth while episodes since season 12. I really dislike how they didn't bother to incorporate anything from the movie, except for the season premier opening. There was some potential in having them rebuild the town, but they squandered it for yet another, "Homer gets a job, and we make cheap gags about said job" plot. 2 weeks in a row. Well, 2 and a half. He tried to get a new job in the season opener.
Bring him back to the power plant, and keep him there.
