FOX TALKBACK - Family Guy - "Peter's Daughter" (Spoilers)

Good episode!

There were an abundance of cutaways, but they were all quick and most worked. The second story didn't quite work, but the explosion scene was hilarious, that was the hardest I've laughed with Family Guy in a few episodes. Overall, the episode was really funny, I laughed through most of it, but the episode ending was... really disappointing.

I predicted the episode to be a certain way, and it was completely different then what I expected. This could be good or bad depending on how I look at it.

And apparently it's dedicated to someone. Anyone recognize who that is?

This was a great episode. Iron Giant FTW.:D Although I did not like the Conway Twitty cutaway, it's always nice to see a callback to older gags and cutaways. I just wish that if they want to make a callback, it would be to stronger jokes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Seth MacFarlane say that he didn't want any new episodes airing after Lois Kills Stewie? Didn't he also threaten to leave the show if Fox did in fact air additional new episodes? If the answer is yes to both of these questions, do we know if Seth has left the show, or was it an empty threat? I am of the opinion that Fox should not be airing Family Guy at all, due to the fact that they cancelled it, and I think that losing the heart of the show would teach them who really gives the show its magic. If all else fails, Family Guy can always air on Cartoon Network or Comedy Central. I love the fact that Fox does not get to air the new Futurama episodes/movies. I'm sorry, Fox, but if you give a big #$%& you to the fans, you'll eventually get your due.:D Any information or update would be appreciated.

Good points

The Brian and Stewie "over" scene was funny.

The Brian and Stewie explosion scene was funny.

Peter's stripper scene was kind of weak but put a grin on my face.

Bad points

The whole Cleveland scene was totally uncalled for. I'm shocked the camera didn't move over to reveal it was full of Black people.

The hanger scene was a bit unfunny.

Lois faking saying "love" was stupid. Why even go to her wedding or let her stay in the house if she hates Meg so much? The Meg bashing is ridiculous.
 
Family Guy isn't canceled. Who told you that? Seth MacFarlane only said that he won't be writing any more FG episodes until after the Writers Strike ends.



I agree. What's truly sad is that Lois used to be one of Meg's few allies. I don't get why the writers think Meg getting dumped on by everyone else on the show is so funny.
 
The explosion gag was great. That's a good example of a long joke that's actually funny because it just keeps going. It starts funny, starts to get unfunny, then gets funny again. The quick cutting of the same three or four camera angles of the explosion helped, too.
 
so much complaining. what if family guy was off the air? no reruns? no dvds? you guys are supposed to be fans of the show. fans never complain about a show's quality. Its madness. you guys wanted the show back and you got it. I never complain about the show, I just sit and enjoy it. the only thing that matters to me about family guy is what I think. I don't give a crap if a character shows up often. I just sit and enjoy the show!!!!!!! please don't ban me. I would like a private message
 
Not true. Fans complain more about a show that they like anyone else, because non-fans of a show couldn't care less, one way or the other.

Even if it's a show that you love, you won't like everything about it. No show is perfect, not even our favorites. Criticism is human nature. You can't stop it anymore than you can stop the rain.

No offense, but I fail to see how not complaining about Family Guy makes you a "better person". One's strength of character isn't defined by how they feel about a fictional TV show. TV is just entertainment. In the grand scheme of things, it means nothing.
 
Your question is hard to answer. My question is, "Why not criticize the show?" What's so evil about it? You discuss what you like about it and then you discuss what you don't like about it. It's the natural flow of how people talk about things. Does it make sense to say, "I liked this part, and I liked this part, and I liked this part, but I didn't like OH WAIT, I MUST NOT SPEAK ILL OF THE SHOW!" No.
 
I can think of some Water Benders that would disagree with you on that.:D



And if you enjoy everything about the show, good for you. But you have no right to force your opinions on those who disagree.
 
I didn't say that I heard it was cancelled. One of my friends at work said that he saw a report on the local news where Seth actually appeared and said that he didn't want anymore episodes to air until the strike ended. I was asking so that I could get some clarification. It wouldn't be a bad thing if Seth left the show. I believe that he has enough support from the rest of the cast and crew that they would follow his lead. Family Guy is his baby, after all. Like I said, I don't think Fox should even be airing it, due to the fact that they cancelled it in the first place. If it weren't for Cartoon Network and the many dedicated fans who purchased the DVDs, there would be no new episodes. Fox may be footing the bill, but I will never forgive them for cancelling shows like Family Guy, Futurama, The OC, True Calling, Justice, The War At Home, The Wedding Bells, Anchorwoman, The Simple Life, The Rich List, The Swan, Happy Hour, Drive, Nashville, Reunion, Free Ride, Skating With Celebrities, Head Cases, and Boston Public.:D

Just so everyone knows, I'm only serious about the first five of those shows I listed. :D I've just watched too much Family Guy. I just think it's a matter of principle that Fox is airing Family Guy. It's my opinion that if you cancel a show, you give up the right to air it. I know that money controls the world, but money doesn't necessarily buy respect.

Back on topic:
-I knew that Stewie and Brian subplot wasn't going to go anywhere, but it was still funny.
-The Alien cutaway was hilarious. Was that a scene from the second or third film? I've not seen either one.
-The coat hanger gag was perfect.
-The Jew jokes are back, but did they ever really leave?

The only complaint I had with this episode, besides the Conway Twitty cutaway, was the fact that we didn't get any good one liners from Quagmire, Joe, or Mayor Adam West. However, I did think that this was a great episode. It showed that Meg doesn't have to be the punchline of every joke or complain about her life every episode she's in. She can be a great character when written properly. If we continue to get more episodes, I want more like this one.
