FOX Talkback - Family Guy - "Movin' Out (Brian's Song)" (Spoilers)

Well, that was an abrupt commercial break. Makes me wonder if something racy was edited out.

I'm getting kind of sick of the jokes about sucky actors. Like political jokes, they're just stuck in there so the writer can soapbox their distaste for an actor. It's not witty or clever, even if I happen to agree with them. The last time I laughed at a Herbert joke was in "Hell Comes to Quahog" when the paper knocked him to the ground and he said "That new paperboy done gone and broke my sternum."

For the people that are tired of the 'bad actor' jokes, let me have my own little moment on the soapbox.

No more Herbert, please.

I have conversations like that with my best friend. I guess that's the kind of things you talk about in your mid-to-late twenties.

EDIT: And LOL at Stewie in bed at the act break.

Okay, I was doing some thinking and decided to add on to this. Here's in full how I would have handled it. I'd have everything described above, but when they cut to a shot of the Mini-Mart, I would have Quagmire going "Ohgodohgod..." with Homer chasing him, but once Homer goes off-screen, he goes "Oooooh!" and pulls back in reverse and parks, jumps out of the truck and into the Mini-Mart for a brief second. We would hear Chris go "Thank you, come again!" and Homer would run out with a hotdog or a donut or something, jump back into the truck, pull out of the parking lot(Ramming into and denting the Mini-Mart sign in the process), scarf down his food and resume chasing Glen.

Then, at the end of the episode(Either during the credits or after the last scene with Jillian showing she's with West), they could cut to an apartment building with a caption saying "Meanwhile at an apartment somewhere in Springfield...". Then we'd cut to inside the building with Quagmire and Homer walking down the hallway. Quagmire could say he's sorry for trying to rape Marge earlier, but Homer then apoligizes for chasing him through several different states into Springfield. He would then tell Glen that since he wants sex, he set up a date with Marge's "two equally hot twin sisters"(He would give a sarcastic wink here) who are looking forward to a hot time with Quagmire. Quagmire would then dash into Patty and Selma's apartment exicted, and Homer would prop his ear to the door and say, "Hee hee hee, sucker. This oughta be good!" with a huge evil grin on his face. Glen would notice Patty and Selma(nude) and go "Ohgodohgodohgodohgodoh...what the hell, its better than nothing." and then we'd hear sounds of Patty and Selma giggling and Quagmire going "Giggity-giggity-giggity!" Homer's evil grin would turn into a look of sheer horror and he'd give a Homer scream and run down the hallway going "Ohgodohgodohgod!" and the episode would end there.

I'm one of the ones who enjoyed it for the most part.

Maybe Brian & Stewie are together way too often, but this was one of the plots where it worked very well. Stewie trying to screw up (unintentionally?) Brian's alone time with Jillian. The end of Act Two was especially hilarious, right after Jillian leaves - with Stewie suggesting Brian have 'rebound' sex with the first person he sees. Then the lights go on... bam! Funniest joke I've heard in quite awhile.

It looks like this is it for the Brian/Jillian coupling, though. Was never meant to be.

The Chris-Meg subplot was fine, but yeah, I also have to show dismay for those extended Carl-Chris scenes. Too, too long referencing opinions on actors and the like.

"Movin' Out (Brian's Song)": 4/5.

horrible quality cameraphone version...

I will say, it's not so much I find the shooting unfunny and offensive (which I don't), just I feel the gag ended with Marge saying "WOW! Three times"

I would have just ended it with Homer going D'oh, and Quagmire sayin, "Aww, shut up and go appear on a T-shirt!" or something.

I still am in amazement that Homer and Peter wouldn't be great friends.

One thing that I find odd: it's not okay for Family Guy to do a parody of "lower screen ads" by having Quagmire rape Marge and then kill off the entire Simpsons family, yet (spoiler for THOH XVIII):
it's okay to have Marge take out her agression on the "lower screen ads" by killing the various characters that appear in the ads (including Peter Griffin and Jack Bauer)?
What the hell is wrong with Fox?

Ok, I finally got to see that clip, and now have one, single, solitary question...

WHY COULDN'T THE EPISODE HAVE BEEN BASED AROUND THAT, INSTEAD OF THE BLAND DRIVEL THAT IT WOUND UP BEING?!!!!!!!!!!!!
