FOX Talkback - Family Guy - "Movin' Out (Brian's Song)" (Spoilers)

Cool, I'll make sure I watch it tonight.

But I can't see today episode to but much better than last week's Star Wars pariody. That was just so funny last week. :p
 
Actually, Jon Benjamin has voiced this character before. I believe his first appearance was in the episode where Brian became a cabbie and Meg dated Mayor West.
 
Because the writers like to use Stewie. Unfortunately he's not that funny anymore, he started to lose steam around Season 3. Same goes for Brian, especially now he dates that idiot he only wants for her body. ***SIGH*** Retcon, oh where art thou?
 
It would've angered Simpsons Fans in America, and the complaints would go RIGHT to Matt Groening, with such crude sayings as "Bite my Shiny Metal Ass," or "Get bent," or even "Eat my shorts!" Lousy Groening and McFarlane, Thinks they're so big!
 
This episode wasn't even close to last week's epsiode.
The jokes were okay, but only found myself rolf once.
Plus, when Brain and his boss would just talk... for like two minuents straight... yea... that just bored me out of my mind.

Stewie having the paper route was the only part I was rofl.

Yes, those are all things we've been complaining about, but their absence doesn't guarantee a good episode.


All improvements, yes, but at the core it just wasn't all that funny, Chris and Carl's conversations weren't what I would call "good", and in terms of plotting, you have to admit Stewie's plot made no sense.
 
Uh... What? I don't understand who's supposed to be saying the catch-phrases, Groening or the complainers?

I don't think angering Simpsons fans was why they cut it. More likely because of some problem being allowed to show such an obvious jab at the Simpsons or something... Maybe Groening did complain, but I really doubt they cut it because they were afraid of making fans mad. I thought that part was sort of funny, but it was definitely out of nowhere.

To explain myself, I appreciated the fact that this episode tried to tell a real story, have a downbeat ending, use less cutaways, less Meg-bashing (although it was still there, just a part of the plot rather than an actual joke), etc. The problem is that none of it really worked for me. Having more of those awkward long conversations is just as bad, if not worse, as having a lot of cutaways. Why can't they just have a 22-minute episode where there are only a couple of cutaways (like they did here), and no annoyingly-long gags? You'd think over the course of five seasons, McFarlane would've gotten that out of his system.

On the plus side, American Dad was pretty good. As usual.
 
That mean-spirited excuse of an attempt to be funny by being shocking with no good payoff at all? No thank you.

Oh wait, is this another Meg gets a job episode and another family member joins her and does better than her entailing a spiralling trend of more Meg abuse?
 
I was just reading about Lifetime and I noticed an error in this episode. Brain says he's against watching Disney stuff, but he's watching Lifetime, which co-owned by Disney.
 
Man, was that ever bad. The Star Wars season opener was mediocre at best, but this episode wasn't funny at all. I didn't laugh even once. The Meg and Chris subplot was boring as heck and the main plot went absolutely nowhere. The only good news is that Brian is no longer dating Jillian (I never liked Jillian), although having her hook up with Adam West at the end was hella lame, IMO. Stewie wasn't funny. Peter wasn't funny. Brian wasn't funny. The cutaway gags weren't funny. If this is indicative of how the new season of FG is going to be, then FOX can keep it.

Seconded. The only thing I liked about this episode is that Jillian was finally gotten rid of (she was best taken in small doses, and I really wish the FG writers would put an end to Brian's dating human women. I can take fantasy to a point, but how desperate and lonely are the women of Quahog that they're ready, willing and able to commit bestiality?) Hooking her up with Adam West was just stupid and random, IMO. True, I wanted her away from Brian, but a part of me wished Jillian would've ended up with Cleveland (since I preferred it when Quagmire was the only bachelor among Peter's gang, and it would've been interesting to see how they would've handled an openly interracial relationship). The only down side to that would've been that we'd still be seeing Jillian all the time.

Overall, this episode was very weak, IMO. I think the shark has jumped on this show, frankly.
 
The thing that annoyed me most about last night's episode were the overlong jokes. The clerk and Chris talking about nude scenes in movies was funny, but it went on and on. So was the no-arms baseball player. A joke that should have been laugh out loud funny went to just funny when it ran too long. Then, they did the overlong movie talk joke again. Seriously, I felt like strangling the editor.

If these jokes were cut right, there would have been more closure to Brian's story.

Aside from those problems, there were enough laughs in this episode for me to recommend it a 3/5.
 
Well, keep in mind that Peter and Lois don't notice anything Stewie does. Maybe he got Gary Coleman to take his place again. That seemed to work before. :D



I agree. Just a couple lines of dialogue would have worked there, rather than having it drag on and on. I sort of found it interesting that the guy would only hire Meg to get Chris's opinion about the movie. I wish I could get a job that easily.



Yeah. I felt bad for Brian, but his relationship with Jillian wasn't really going anywhere. I think it's best they don't keep her. I don't think there will be any continuity with her dating Mayor West though. That was probably just a one-shot joke.

Yeah, it's always good when Meg is used in the plot rather than just as a punching bag. I did like when she was trying to find a new job and it turned out the guy on the other end of the phoneline was hitting on her and it turned out to be Peter. That part was funny.



Yeah, I liked the "Donald Duck" outfit. That seemed to be the highlight of the show.



I agree with that. His character works if his appearance is relevant to the paper route. Rather than just trying to squeeze him in every episode for whatever reason. Who can blame Chris for wanting to get away from him. Lol. What I don't get about the overuse of Herbert is why do they need him when they already have a sex pervert, Quagmire. The difference is that Quagmire is actually funny. It seemed like they used to be trying to get Quagmire in every episode. Now they're doing it with Herbert. There really was no sign of Quagmire in tonight's episode other than this...



Now, that's something I would like to have seen. It's true as well. It's very annoying when a character from another show appears at the bottom of the screen and cuts off part of the bottom of the screen when you're really watching something else. If anybody has a video clip of that, I'd like to see it.
