FOX Talkback - American Dad - "Big Trouble In Little Langley" Talkback (Spoilers)

Well, I was more concerned that it was too much like the FG joke where Peter also blew his finger off with a firecracker than other shows where the characters lost fingers (Technically Homer and Dale's fingers were cut off by accident, so the joke was at least differrent than those 2). That said, I have to admit, the payoff was better than the rest of the joke. I thought it would amount into a parody of Jackass or something. Seems like it should have.

I admit, I find that refreshing. The other Fox shows go into the A story halfway through the first act. And in certain cases with the Simpsons, the A story starts up halfway through the second act. Seeing them go off right into the mainstory line without 10 minutes of jokes that lead to it was the best part. Sure, the pacing was off a little, but I felt that it had a nice groove to it.

I really didn't get the stereotype of reusing paper towels, though.

I like how Stan always seems to get flash of conscience like that. And this time, he didn't need Francine or Haylie to tell him about it. This was all Stan. He really evolved past the satire of a rightwing action hero in a post 9/11 world that he was in the first season.

So over all, I give this episode a B out of 10.

Ah. I thought it was some weird "Asian stereotype" I never heard about. I got the ducks bit. I thought that was some sort of joke about old Asian people or something.

Really weird in it's pacing. They forgot Haily, Steve's plot was a little down a worn road (every other show has pretty much done this plot), and Stan and Francine's plot was fairly good but I zoned out of a part of it.

So far this season has been a little rerunnish with it's setups (Steve in peril, Rodger dressing up, Stan dissagreeing with something, Francine wanting to be connected to someone or a few people, Haily being very loose with herself), and although that is how these characters were developed, in order for the show to still feel fresh, they need to start doing some new things. However, it's still funny and exciting.

This episode: C+

Even though the pacing was a little weird, I like how tightly American Dad keeps its plots. Like the way they set up Roger discovering he's fireproof so they could use it later in Steve's plot. They also acknowledged Francine's sister (when she had that weird exposition-filled phone conversation). I wonder if they'll ever actually show her.

And poor Klaus gets no love.

(hits head) How could I forget? "Texas Skilsaw Massacre" is one of the few episodes I enjoyed from season 7. It was like a return to classic Hank; heck, the plot line about Hank controlling his anger is very reminiscent of the very first episode with the social worker investigating Hank's behavior around Bobby.
