AMERICAN DAD EPISODE 46 TALKBACK!

SYNOPSIS: "When Francine's adopted parents stop by for an unannounced stay, Stan is furious that they refuse to assimilate to his "man of the house" ways. After he unsuccessfully tries to give them the boot, he is convinced that finding Francine's birth parents will change things. Meanwhile, Steve tries to live to the extreme in order to get to second base with the class hottie."

Enjoy Everyone!

I loved how Stan tried to get Francines mom to say nine right and way of complaining how everyone is waisting paper towels. And of course Steve always makes the show but I wonder how Haley got over her cold sore since we didn't see her in the end.

I didn't even think about how they forgot about Haley like that. Though I guess there was a lot of stuff going on in this one. Poor Steve! He almost won ...

This episode really suffered from pacing problems. I think they introduced too much new information too quickly. Halfway through the first act we met two new characters, learned that Francine was adopted, and had a whole bunch of conflict arise out of that story, and that was only the beginning. I can't explain exactly what it was, but those first scenes really got excruciating after a while. They just weren't working for me at all. That more or less carried through the rest of the episode, where we met two more new characters and had at least one other conflict that took a while to get to.

And what's with the "why crow why" joke? They really seemed to be reaching there.

This episode had potential and wasn't as dull as some of the others, but it really didn't work.

They did cram a lot into this one. Not sure how they'd rectify that, as I don't know if I'd like to see this story stretched into a two-parter, but there was a "rushed" feeling to it nonetheless. That said, the ending was sweet, as Stan finally did the right thing when he realized Francine's real parents were rich jerks. His phone conversation with Francine when he first met them was great: "Love these hypothetical conversations, don't you?"

I couldn't get into Steve's plot at all.

There's also the fact that EVERY OTHER FOX ANIMATED PROGRAM HAS HAD A "LOSS OF FINGER" STORYLINE ALREADY! That's not an exaggeration; they've all done it. What's the appeal of this? The fourth time you see it, it's not so shocking.

I liked the episode, though. Even though Fran's parents were some pretty awful stereotypes, and I desperately hoped her NEW parents wouldn't be permanently part of the show. Because then they'd be ripping off Family Guy with the whole "my wife's in-laws are arrogant upperclass people" thing.

Dale leaned too close to Hank as he was using the power saw and lost his thumb. As a result, Hank was declared as having an "anger problem" and had to go to a special class.

Holy crap, you're right. Even Futurama did one (well, it was more of gag, but still)...

Decent episode. Looking more forward to the crossover of AD in next week's Family Guy, though...

I dont recall a "loss of finger" joke on futurama. They did do jokes about detatched hands (why must i be a crustacean in love) and detached heads (put your head on my shoulders) jokes though.
