L. Ellington (RIP MJ)

edit: "EVER lost MJ." Sorry for the typo.
Someone on this network recently asked two black men with Ph.D.'s : "Now that Michael Jackson has gone on, is the African American community trying to reclaim him? Did the African American community ever feel they lost Michael Jackson because of plastic surgery and the marriages to white women?"
I was like what the hell--for ONE, I don't think the black community never LOST Michael Jackson. Hell, with the way the media treated him, he was obviously still perceived as a black man.
And secondly, to me, that's the equivalent of the proposition that because my black father married my an American Indian woman and had me, he's distanced himself from black society.
And finally, what does it matter if he married white women? There was a time when you'd be murdered for even looking at a white woman, but today, white women/black men intermarriages are rampant. And as SOON as people see one with their own eyes, the black man is obviously an "Uncle Tom."
