I thought I would let you all know Fox is premiering a new live action/animated show Sit Down, Shut Up. It premieres tonight at 8:30 p.m. Created by Mitch Hurwitz, it will join shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad in Fox's Animation Domination lineup, taking over from King of the Hill.

I'm rather excited for it, looks good from the sneak peaks I've seen and I like the combination of live action backdrops and the 2D animation. The various characters were designed by Mo Willems who's worked on shows like Codename: Kids Next Door, Sheep In The Big City, and Nickelodeon's Kablam. Voice actors include Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Kristin Chenoweth, Will Forte, Tom Kenny, Cheri Oteri, Kenan Thompson , Regina King, Henry Winkler and Nick Kroll.

Anyone else looking out for it tonight?

Not interested. And the animation style isn't really doing much for me... nothing's moving, but I can already tell that it's Flash... and that's not good. Not that I'm totally against Flash or anything, I just am getting a little sick of seeing lazy usage of it.

I have a feeling this show won't last very long... I don't see many people of the FOX demographic getting into this, I mean it doesn't even look like something you'd find on FOX. XD

If I hear any good reviews though, I might become more curious.

It isn't Flash. The designs just make it look that way.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to this. I don't think it will last too long though :(

You sure? I believe the animation is being done by Rough Draft.

I'll be tuning in. Hopefully Weinstein carries over the quality he (and Oakley, though he's not involved this time) provided on The Simpsons.

Don't know if it's accurate to say it's live-action/animated hybrid. The only thing LA are the backgrounds, which are photographs. Everything else is animated.

I'll be tuning in. Hopefully it's decent.

(and no, the animation is NOT Flash. It's hand-drawn)

BTW, now that SDSU is debuting, is KOTH officially done on Fox? I haven't been following if it's going to air on some other night or whatever.

That sucks if true.

As for the show, I'm very interested in the show so I'll be tuning in.

And Speedy, Bill was going to co-helm the show with Josh, but both parted ways during production. And yes, Rough Draft is animating the show.

Yup, you're right- fox.com also lists a new KOTH at 7:30/6:30c. While not the ideal time slot, I'm glad they're still airing it and not just shelving completed, unaired episodes. Though that's gonna make my TV watching schedule tonight awkward- on for KOTH, off for Simpsons, on for SDSU and the rest.

Nothing about this show inspires confidence about me. The fact that it's a rejected live-action pitch in cartoon wrapping paper, the abysmal looking promos, the unappealing Mission Hill/Oblongs-eqsue art style. Nothing suggests that this show will either be funny or long-lived.

I think that this is going to be one of those shows where I judge the writing rather than the animation. I don't have a problem with that myself, it does look funny, I will watch it when it comes on tonight.

I'm looking forward to it. The art style reminds me of The Critic and the promos make it look like the humor is very much deadpan as opposed to over the top.

Though I'm not enjoying the fact that King of The Hill is returning to its terrible slot from so many seasons ago.

Oh wow, then... hm. The designs still bother me though.

I do agree though that you can somehow tell that the show is at least deadpan in humor rather than obscene and crude, but despite it still doesn't look interesting. But I guess that's just me.

Well, I'm pleased. The art style isn't ripping off anyone currently popular, the "real" backgrounds show a willingness to still experiment 90's-style, and the show isn't about a family.

Don't forget Fox was also pitched something about a celebrity rock star whose tattoos talked to him. Would you rather have that?
