Fox after 4Kids

What will happen? Fox's contract is up next year. Will Fox re-sign with 4Kids, get a new block, or end an era and stop Fox's Saturday mornining cartoons. It's more than safe to say Fox Kids won't ever come back, but Fox could do their own block or get another company to do their block. What do you think will happen?

That's a very good question, that I had brought up before. It's just, no one seemed to have cared about it. Glad someone else other than me made a topic like this.

The thing is, while I do want to see the block more cartoon oriented, I don't want another hack job company securing the block that does anime, like the past two companies that worked on it. But when you look at it, most of the anime distrobuters don't seem to have alot of cartoon oriented material, or at the very least child safe.

However, I do wish I could see FUNimation trying to give the saturday morning block a chance. To be honest, they actually have kid properties that they wouldn't be able to get on TV normally, given the way Cartoon Network is at the moment. However, the issue with FUNimation, most of the children properties they do have access to are actually targetted towards girls (Mamotte! Lollipop and Sasami for instance). However, they do have other properties (One Piece and Keroro Gunsou) that could fit the boy demographic. Although, there would be irony to see One Piece back in that timeslot.

As for non-anime companies taking the timeslot, I'm having a hard time figuring out who would want to try and create a kid oriented block there, given most of them have already occupied the other morning channel slots...

Kahn stopped just short of outright badmouthing Fox in one of the 4Kids press releases and went on about how the CW was so much better, so I think he's made it clear that 4Kids is not going to re-sign.

While a new block or return to Fox Kids would be awesome, I'm not getting my hopes up. Saturday morning blocks aren't the force they once were. I see it becoming a dumping ground for half-hearted E/I or local programming and infomercials.

It's probably not that attractive to companies to really try and set up an all-out new block, since according to Kahn Fox has a poor cost structure and it hasn't had a great track record over the last few years. It would be pretty ambitious for anyone to try anything big.

I wouldn't mind seeing Toei try and pull something off with the block though, since they seem to be shopping around for airspace pretty aggressively right now.

Sadly, I doubt Fox will go for another Saturday morning block. It'll just be full of useless informercials.

I guess the next Saturday Morning cartoon boom will probably happen in the next five years or so.

They won't resign 4K!DS because 4K!DS doesn't want them, which is why they jumped ship to CW.

Probably they'll go the way of the Big 3 Networks

Well, I'm going to focus on the poisitive, and hope that something good will happen. I'm going be optimistic, and hope that Saturday mornings will still continue on Fox in some form.

I too would like to see FUNi attempt to make a deal with Fox to syndicate certain shows that would be appropriate on Saturday mornings, such as One Piece and SGT Frog, but I honestly don't see it happening. Fox may just decide to just air sitcom re-runs or something.

While I would like to see another good Saturday morning block on FOX, and I especially like the idea of FUNimation trying to set up on, I don't think that will happen. It's most likely will have reruns of old sitcoms or infomercials.

I don't recall 4Kids having a block that was full of only anime, but that might have happened before I got into their 4KidsTV block. As of now, they only have a couple of anime series between their two blocks, while its mostly filled with third party properites.

Not to mention, FUNimation does have access to non-anime properties as well. It's not like FUNi couldn't aquire other third party properties for airing on Fox, much like 4Kids did.

Unfortunately FOX will probably show mindless infomercials, old movies, old sitcoms, or news.

Though I am hoping FOX does decide to stay in the game by either producing their own block or giving the lease to another animation company. Should FOX give the lease to someone else, I hope the new company would take the same approach 4Kids did, by actually having a block and not just something that feels syndicated.

Being as the Saturday morning cartoon is a dying breed, it seems unlikely that FOX will continue.

Won't happen. I believe WB Animation is focusing more on DTVs right now, with the exception of Brave and the Bold on CN. WB and CBS also made the descion to drop Kids'WB! on the CW.

If WB didn't want to program the block for their own network anymore, why would they want to do it for someone else ?
