People don't understand these at all, and it pisses me off continually. Just for the record, the law is that the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. People are so ridiculous about how they treat these things. People need to generally follow the law, but also just keep in mind what makes logical sense to optimize the flow of traffic. If a car across from you is going, the entire intersection is blocked anyway, so just go. However, if you make the decision to go, do so quickly. If you wait until the opposing car has almost crossed the entire intersection, don't assume that it is still your right to go. You have sacrificed that right by being slow.
I also hate how when two people start going at the same time, one car almost always gets within inches of the other car before slamming on the brakes and honking the horn. If you are seriously blind or inattentive enough not to notice the other car until then, you shouldn't be driving. And if you are actually that aggravated by their (possibly) self-righteous driving maneuver that took an extra two second of your time away, you also shouldn't be driving. It's people like you that kill others in a fit of road rage.
The final thing that pisses me off are the over-courteous drivers that completely throw everything off by trying to be "nice" and letting another car go in front of them. If you have the right of way, take it! You're not helping anyone by letting them go first. In fact, it will probably take them a significant amount of time to even register what you're trying to do, so in that wasted time you probably could've just gone anyway.
The thing to keep in mind is that as long as someone moves, it will probably result in a faster experience for everyone.
