Four ten hour days?

We all know that gas prices are killing our pockets these days. I was listening to the radio today and there was a poll question asking should school go to four ten hour days. For one, it really would save on gas because these buses only get between 8-10 mpg. That's a good thing minus x amount of miles for the fifth day. But on the other hand with the kids out an extra day some parents will not have a babysitter. Not to mention the later day let out will interfer with the school games. The school uses the buses to take the kids to the game. Also some of the kids who play sports will be late to the games. So what is your take on this situation? If it came down to this happening across the states how would you respond?

first of all, if they're playing school sports, school wont interfere with them. and most rec-leagues work around the school schedule. so the game thing wont necessarily interfere with school, but it'll either be really late games or on that 5th day.
plus, what will parents do about daycare on that extra day? because then they'd have to switch work weeks to 4 days as well.
i dont think that will fly. whether school goes 4 days a week or 5, gas will still probably cost pretty close to what it does now, i think.
