Four Sided Triangle (1953)

I confess I'm not a big fan of Hammer movies or Terence Fisher but "Four Sided Triangle" is quite good.
A bittersweet love story concerning two childhood frienRAB and the girl who comes between them.
When as an adult, she chooses one of them as her husband, the other hits on a scheme to clone her but overlooks one vital element.
The acting is Rank Charm School, the sets are Professor Branestawm crossed with the cafe from Brief Encounter but William Temple's story hasn't lost any of its power.:)

Am I being pedantic to point out that the film is not a Hammer Film.

It's an Exclusive Film .

It was several years later before they became Hammer.

Even the first 2 Quatermass films are Exclusive.

See if you can spot the Hammer name on the film anywhere.

You wont find it because it was made several years before Hammer came into existence.

The film may be part of The Hammer Collection but its NOT a Hammer film in any other way except that Exclusive became Hammer and it was Hammer that did the required renewal of copyright for the film in 1980

The giveaway is that the first thing to appear onscreen is "Exclusive Films Present"

It says "Exclusive" at the front but at the end of the closing credits roller title it says "A Hammer Production produced at Exclusive Studios, Bray". Maybe it was added later but it doesn't look like it.

Hammer was registered as a company, by Will Hammer (aka Will HinRAB), father of Anthony HinRAB in 1934 and produced its first movie in 1935.

I believe it may have been changed sometime between the original release and when Exclusive changed to Hammer or even as late as when Hammer were the registered owner to renew copyright.

It IS classed as a Hammer film now but it wasn't made as such which is why the Hammer name is not on the opening titles as it is with films that were produced when Hammer was the actual production company.

The Exclusive films are actually the only "Hammer" films made that are still owned by Hammer.

All the actual official Hammer films are owned by various Hollywood companies like Warner ,Universal and Columbia (Sony)
