i found a phone in the mall and it had no service. can i go online and connect it to my phone number and start using this new phone?

if someone lost their verizon phone they more than likely reported it lost. So no, you won't be able to use it.

When someone reports a phone as missing, the carrier, who would have a record of its EID, will disable it so that no one else can use it to make calls. This is a good reminder to anyone who loses a cellphone (or has it stolen) that he should report it to the carrier right away, because you, the owner, will be responsible for any phone calls made until it is reported as missing. :ah:

thanks. that's what I figured. I've tried contacting a couple people in the contact list, but no answers. guess i'll keep trying. if i can't get it back to the owner then i guess i'll use it for the other features since it seems i wouldnt be able to use the phone. if i tried to hook it up and it was reported lost, will my account be frozen or something detrimental to my account?

why not take it to a verizon corprate store so they can contact the owner?

didn't think about that, just thought about using the contacts on the phone.
